Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: SPARKLING FLAME (1)
Jockey: Moodley S – Trainer: Miller M

SPARKLING FLAME moved up like a winner over this C&D last time, but was outrun in the latter stages. The blinkers have done the trick on the daughter of Pomodoro. Serino Moodley retains the ride this afternoon and she should shed her maiden tag.

Race 5: QUICK STAR (1)
Jockey: Yeni M – Trainer: Binda C

QUICK STAR ran a good race in his last start over 1400m on the turf, but found one too good in the form of Captain Fontane. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. He tries the 1700m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should go one better.

Race 6: THE GAUL (5)
Jockey: Gumede T – Trainer: Puller G

THE GAUL was unlucky last time as he was baulked for a clear run from the 400m mark. He finished 1.8 lengths behind RUNNING FREELY that day and is 0.5kgs better off at the weights. With a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 7: SPACE RACE (2)
Jockey: Mxoli P – Trainer: Peter P

SPACE RACE’S last three starts have been good. She should have finished closer last time as she had to be steadied at the 450m mark. She has won once and finished second twice from seven starts over this distance. She won her maiden on this course by 3.6 lengths. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should notch up her second career victory.

Race 2: FORWARD SPELL (9)
Jockey: Kennedy W – Trainer: Van Zyl G

FORWARD SPELL had his first race over this distance on the turf track. He was reported to be not striding out that day, but he was a long way back turning for home and finished his race off nicely. The son of Futura would have gained from the experience and there should be plenty of improvement to come. He tries the polytrack and may be the one to side with.
