Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: BERNIE’S DREAM (7)
Race 5: EMERALD PALACE (5)
Race 8: FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT (6)
Race 10: IT MUST BE LOVE (14)
Race 2: BERNIE’S DREAM (7) Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Kotzen G
BERNIE’S DREAM finished a short head second over this C&D last time. He raced from just off the pace that day and rallied strongly late. The son of Crusade gets the blinkers fitted for the first time and if the headgear has the desired effect, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TOP BET FOR TODAY: Race 5: EMERALD PALACE (5) Jockey: Yeni M – Trainer: Kotzen N
EMERALD PALACE found betting support when finishing second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She was her own worst enemy that day as she overraced in the early stages. If Muzi Yeni is able to switch her off early today, she should go one better.
Race 9: KAYSON (9) Jockey: Jacobs J – Trainer: Muscutt P
KAYSON fought hard for his last win over this distance on the polytrack. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is unbeaten from three starts over this trip. Apprentice Jabu Jacobs will take the 2.5kgs off his back once again and if suited to the straight course, he should take a power of beating.
Race 10: IT MUST BE LOVE (14)
Jockey: Mgudlwa A – Trainer: Van Zyl G
IT MUST BE LOVE has produced three decent efforts thus far. She should have won last time as she hung in the latter stages. The daughter of Var looks to be progressive and if keeping on a straight line, she should be the one they all have to beat.
VALUE BET
Race 8: HEXATONIC (1) Jockey: Ferraris L– Trainer: Kotzen G
HEXATONIC was his own worst enemy in the Michaelmas Handicap last time as he overraced in the early stages. He will enjoy the drop back in distance as he has won once and finished second once from four starts over this trip. He makes his course debut and if suited to the track, he can get back to winning ways.
