Jockey: G Cheyene – Trainer: A Greeff

The in-form Alan Greeff stable could complete the exacta in this race, with VERBARIUM being the pick of his three runners. He slammed the opposition by seven lengths on debut over this distance. That was on the poly, but if he is as effective on the grass, he could be able to follow up that victory here.

Race 7: THE SILVA FOX (4)

Jockey: C Maujean – Trainer: T Laing

THE SILVA FOX and SABASTIAN renew their rivalry this afternoon. The former finished 1.25L behind the latter when they last met over this c&d, but is now 4kgs to the good at today’s weights. That should be enough to reverse that result.

Race 8: WORLD SQUARED (7)

Jockey: B Fayd’Herbe – Trainer: M Turner

A tricky F&M Maiden Plate ends off today’s program. The tentative selection goes to WORLD SQUARED. She tries the ten furlongs for the first time, but she was staying on at the finish in her last outing over a mile and may well be looking for this greater test of stamina. She starts from a handy draw.

HARD CORE had to be eased early in his last start, but eventually did not finish too far behind the winner. He drew off well to win his penultimate race over this c&d and starting from a handy draw, he should be the one that they all have to beat. It is encouraging that stable jockey Greg Cheyne has kept faith with the ride.
