Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: EMPIRE GLORY (4)
Race 2: LADY WYLIE (2)
Race 3: VIVA RIO (1)

Race 1: BOLLINGER (1)

Jockey:R Fourie – Trainer: J Snaith

KASIMIR returns from a 24-week rest, but his trainer certainly knows how to bring them back ready to win on their return to racing. He has not finished further back than second in five starts over this c&d and stable jockey Richard Fourie retains the ride this afternoon.

Race 3: VIVA RIO (1)
Jockey: M Winnaar – Trainer: G Kotzen

VIVA RIO is the best bet on the card. He was not disgraced in the Cape Guineas last time when racing from a prominent position and managing to find another kick in the closing stages. He has a good record over this distance with three wins and a second-place finish from five outings. Morne Winnaar knows the son of Oratorio well and the pair will be hard to beat this afternoon.

Jockey: M Winnaar – Trainer: G Kotzen

PRINCE OF PERSIA finished just over three lengths behind King Of Gems in the Selangor Cup last time. He did not kick on that day which would suggest that he is not quite ready for the mile. He drops back to the minimum trip this afternoon and has posted a win and a third from as many outings over this distance. Morne Winnaar jumps back aboard the son of Captain Al and the pair may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Race 7: CRUISE ALONG (3)

Jockey: A Domeyer – Trainer: C Bass-Robinson

CRUISE ALONG hasn’t been too far off the action in recent outings. She stayed on well in her last start when finishing 4th, just under five lengths behind the winner. Her record over this c&d is promising with two wins and three third-place finishes from eight outings. From pole position and with top jockey Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.

Race 8: FLATWARE (11)
Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: W Nel

FLATWARE showed some good signs of returning to form last time. She tried the nine furlongs for the first time that day and made steady progress up the straight. She takes another slight drop in the ratings today and may be able to find herself in the winners enclosure.
