He returns from a 21-week break this afternoon, during which time he was gelded. The drop to the minimum trip should suit him well and back against maiden company, he should take a power of beating.

ELUSIVE FORTUNE was ridden to perfection when winning her last start over a mile on this course. She set the pace and fought hard to keep all challengers at bay. She was reported to have cast a shoe in running which makes the win that much more encouraging. The daughter of Elusive Fort has won over today’s distance and she has a good chance of notching up the double.

GREEN JACKET has shown good signs of returning to best form since his 17-week break. The manner in which he ran on over this c&d last time caught the eye. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. Robert Khathi knows the son of Gimmethegreenlight well and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

MAGIC MIKE finished 0.75 lengths behind HORATIUS in his last start over seven furlongs at Durbanville. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Corne Orffer steps back into the saddle today and if not in need of this outing, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
