Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: CORVETTE CAPTAIN (8)
Race 2: VARQUERA (1)
Race 4: TIERRA DEL FUEGO (7)
Race 6: MAJOR RETURN (4)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: CORVETTE CAPTAIN (8)
Jockey: C Maujean – Trainer: J Janse van Vuuren

CORVETTE CAPTAIN’S last run can be ignored as he was cut into on his left hind and also returned to the parade ring fatigued. It must be noted that the formline of that race has worked out well with multiple horses coming out to win since. The son of Dynasty produced an impressive debut over the 1160m at Turffontein and challenged all the way to the line. On that effort, he should be hard to beat.

TOP BET
Race 2: OLIVIA (15)

Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: S Tarry

OLIVIA moved up really well in her promising debut on this course, three weeks ago. It must be noted that the formline of that race has worked out well with there being multiple horses that have come out to win since. The daughter of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement under top jockey Gavin Lerena.

Race 4: TIERRA DEL FUEGO (7)

Jockey: R Danielson – Trainer: S Tarry

South Africa’s champion trainer Sean Tarry holds a very strong hand in this contest sending out three of his horses. TIERRA DEL FUEGO is in the form of his life, winning his last three starts. He raced from a handy position last time, but fought back well to get the better of Social Order. He loves racing over seven furlongs as he has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many outings. Raymond Danielson has been aboard him in his last two victories and the son of Skitt Skizzle can notch up a quartet of wins.

Race 9: OSCAR WILDE (3)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainers: M de Kock

OSCAR WILDE drifted slightly in the betting when winning his debut over 1450m on the inside course at Turffontein. He took the lead at the 200m mark that day and kept finding all the way to the line. The son of Dynasty makes his handicap debut this afternoon, but he looks to have class about him and he could be almost anything.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 3: CAST THE DICE (10)

Jockey: M van Rensburg – Trainer: M Houdalakis

This is a very open Maiden Plate for fillies and an upset could be on the cards. CAST THE DICE made a fair debut at long odds over the six-furlong trip on this course. She made eye-catching late progress that day and should enjoy stepping up to the seven furlongs. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement under Marco van Rensburg who was aboard her on debut.
