WINE TASTING is the best bet on today’s card. She produced an encouraging debut effort when finishing third over 1160m at Turffontein. She showed plenty of speed that day before getting collared in the latter stages. The daughter of Byword would have come on from the run and will enjoy the drop to the minimum trip. She gets the services of capable workrider Tshepiso Matsoele and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 2: MARENGO (10)
Jockey: Storey C – Trainer: Magner R
MARENGO was friendless in the betting market when finishing runner-up on debut over this distance on the Classic course. He understandably raced green that day, but the manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. The son of Flying The Flag would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should go one better here.

Race 6: CURVATION (1)
Jockey: Strydom P – Trainer: Marwing W
This is a weak MR 68 Handicap for the girls and CURVATION should take a power of beating. She followed up her maiden win with a very good second-place finish over a mile on the Classic course. She will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and should strip a much fitter horse. She does have a wide draw to contend with, but she gets the services of Piere Strydom who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 7: GOLDEN BELLE (9)
Jockey: Ferraris L – Trainer: Tarry S
GOLDEN BELLE was ultra-impressive when winning the Camellia Stakes last time. She took over the lead at the 250m mark that day and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. She looks to have ability and is the best-weighted runner in this contest. She makes her course debut this afternoon and if suited to the track, she should be hard to beat.

Race 9: DIFFERENT LIGHT (7)
Jockey: Maujean C – Trainer: Janse van Vuur
DIFFERENT LIGHT is the value bet on today’s programme. Her last start on the polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville can be completely ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. She returns from a 20-week break this afternoon, during which time she would have strengthened up. She ran a decent race in her penultimate outing against much stronger and looks to have some ability. If fit and well, she should be the one they all have to beat.
