RACE 1
NAMJONG SINGS finished 0.5L behind progressive sort Ares last time out. The form of that race definitely warrants respect and he looks a big runner in the opening contest with Zac Purton aboard. COURAGEOUS DRAGON returns from a break. He wasn’t disgraced in his latest when beaten 2.25L by Lightning Steed (Competes in Race 7) and he should be able to throw out a challenge to the top selection. GREAT SON is much better than his last start on the all-weather track. He will benefit from a 2.5kgs claiming apprentice and if reproducing some of his prior form then he can run into the money.
RACE 2
WONDERFUL TIGER finished third last time out. He didn’t settle in the race when clipping heels but he managed to get to the front of affairs at the 600m and stayed on strongly at the business end of affairs. With better luck in running, he could find himself in the winner’s enclosure. VIRTUS STAR has finished runner-up in his last two outings. He was no match for the winner last time out but on form looks the obvious threat in the race. NITRO EXPRESS likes to produce a finish from off the pace and if they go a decent gallop up front then he will be doing his best work late in this contest.
RACE 3
MELBOURNE HALL ran a typical second run after a rest last time. He was a narrow winner of his comeback run when beating Power King by a neck. He should be cherry-ripe having his third run after a rest and rates a serious contender in the third race. UNIVERSAL GO GO is much better than his last start suggests. He will benefit from a 1kg apprentice claim and if recapturing some his prior form then he will have a say. LADY FIRST is coming along the right away. He has not finished far off the winner in his last two outings and if overcoming his wide barrier position then he can run into the money.
RACE 4
WE THE SOUTH has a wide barrier to contend with he will get all the necessary assistance with Joao Moreira in the irons. He was only caught late by Farm Bumper last time out and he can make amends in the fourth race. ARDENODE was right behind the top selection last time and the pair meet on identical weight terms. They shouldn’t be too far apart when they reach the finishing post. JAZZ STEED is in good form. He is well-drawn and will benefit from a 1kg claiming apprentice in this race. He finished just behind Namjong Sings last time – Watch form line of Race 1 Number 1 (Namjong Sings).
RACE 5
MURRAY’S PARTNERS didn’t get the best of starts in his comeback effort. The manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging though and he can get back to winning ways. He performs well with Karis Teetan in the saddle and the pair will be tough to peg back in the closing stages. DAILY BEAUTY brings some consistent form into the race. He likes to race off the speed and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the line. LUCKY MISSILE is much better than his last start. He got crowded at the 550m mark and weakened steadily thereafter. If recapturing some of his prior form then he can run into the money.
RACE 6
EXPLOSIVE WITNESS was given a strong ride by Karis Teetan last time when he hit the front at the 70m mark and won. He was reported to be lame post-race which is slightly concerning but one should expect another bold effort from this individual in the sixth race. FABULOUS EIGHT is a natural frontrunner that will want to get to the head of affairs. He has performed well in his last two outings under Moreira and can pose the biggest threat to the top selection. HARMONY AND RICH should have finished closer last time out. His rider lost the reins and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish. If recapturing his prior form then he should be able to run into the money.
RACE 7
LIGHTNING STEED didn’t find a challenger last time out when he went start to finish. The manner in which he kept on finding extra up the straight suggests that there may be plenty more to come from this individual. ENTRUSTED is still relatively unexposed. He has shown enough ability to warrant his place in this field and if he can switch off early then he will be finishing positively at the finish. REEL BIZZY has finished third in his last two outings. He didn’t settle last time out but still finished well in the middle of the track. If repeating his recent form, then he can run into the places of the seventh race.
RACE 8
PRINCE OF GEMS has put in two outstanding efforts since joining the Millard camp. He has struck up a formidable relationship with this rider, is drawn best of all, and should be cherry-ripe having his third run after a rest. FLYING BONUS is a natural frontrunner that if allowed a big lead is difficult to reel in. He was caught late last time under Karis Teetan and the pair look an obvious threat from an inside starting stall. WIND N GRASS was given a peach of a ride last time to get up in the closing stages. He will be doing his best work late and must be respected in the lucky last race.
