RACE 1
FIRE BALL shoulders a nice handy galloping weight in the opening contest. He was only beaten 1.5L by the progressive type Sight Success and a repeat of that effort should find himself in the winner’s enclosure. SIMPLY SPECTACULAR won his only start on this course. He returns from a lengthy break during which time he would have strengthened and if returning fit, he can make his presence felt. FANTASTIC WAY caught the eye of Hong Kong racing pundits in his trial leading up to race and could be a talent on the rise. The betting market should be followed with regards to his chances.
RACE 2
CITY LEGEND is a battling maiden but he caught the eye last time out when only going down half a length at the wire. He is drawn best of all and although he is a hesitant selection, he can give a good account of himself. DESTIN was clear second best last time out when beaten by Green Envy. He shoulders joint top weight but is always thereabouts and must be respected. VIVA COUNCIL looks held by the selection on his last start but if putting his best foot forward, he can run into the money.
RACE 3
RESOLUTE finished half a length behind DEMONS ROCK last time out. He is 2kgs better off at the weights with his recent conqueror, which should be enough to turn the tables. LUCKY FUN is and unexposed sort but he backed up his favourite status last time out when defeating Zone D. He will have to shoulder top weight in this contest but it will be no surprise to see him follow up on his recent victory.
RACE 4
CHEERFUL DAYS is drawn wide again but still merits top selection status. He was narrowly beaten by Leading Fortune last time out and will be looking to pick up that first career win that has evaded him thus far. COUNTRY BOY put his best foot forward last time out. The booking of Moreira is intriguing and he may have just turned the corner, having disappointed in his first three outings. WINNING STEED gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. He is much better than his below par last outing and must be respected.
RACE 5
GUNNAR is coming along the right way and represents decent each-way value. He has followed up his most recent win with two decent efforts and looks fairly handicapped once again with a 3kgs claiming apprentice in the saddle. He was only beaten by half a length last time out and will be looking to make amends. ALL FOR SOUTH beat an honest sort in the form of Biz Power last time out. It is encouraging that Moreira has kept faith in the ride and the pair will be trying to make it back-to-back wins. SUPER ALLIANCES is a three-time c&d winner and from his neat barrier, he must be considered.
RACE 6
BAND OF BROTHERS was beaten by NOT USUAL TALENT last time out. He meets his recent conqueror on identical weight terms and may have to settle for the same result. The South African-bred SMILING TIME, formerly known as Viva Rio, has his first start in Hong Kong. He showed lots of talent in his home county and the betting market must be followed to assess his chances.
RACE 7
FURORE got the better of EXULTANT the last time they met. The pair are the class horses in the race and look set to fight it out once again. FURORE is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and thus warrants the fact that he is selected to win this Grade 3 contest. The South African-bred SINGAPORE SLING found a form return last time out. He shoulders a very light weight and can confirm his recent improvement.
RACE 8
WINS ALL led throughout last time and was caught late in the closing stages. He has finished runner-up in his last three starts and his next win looks overdue. He is 1kg worse off at the weights with DIAMOND RHYME on his last outing but from pole position, he should take a power of beating. MORE THAN ENOUGH is coming along nicely. He has placed in his last two outings and should be right there at the business end of affairs.
RACE 9
AUTHENTIC CHAMP is the best bet on the card. He was unlucky not to reel off the hat-trick last time out and on form alone looks very difficult to oppose on this race. He shoulders a very light weight and should have plenty in the tank when making his run down to the wire. BEAUTY DAY was narrowly beaten last time under this apprentice. He is still a one-time winner but a repeat of that effort should see him run into the money. CASIMIRO is held by the second selection on his last start but with a decent pace is expected, he should be doing his best work late.
RACE 10
TEAM SPIRIT is selected to close off proceedings. He moved up like a winner last time but was caught in the latter stages by California Rad. He shoulders the same weight this time around and a repeat of that effort could see him earn his sixth career triumph. CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT backed up his favourite status last time out when defeating Will Power. The money poured on him that day which suggests he is showing good work back at home. BEAUTY APPLAUSE beat a fairly unexposed sort last time but he brings ultra-consistent form into the race and shouldn’t be too far off the winner.
