RACE 1
DOUBLE TAKE is a strong galloper on the dirt track. He was only beaten a neck by Party Everyday last time out who is interestingly the value bet on the card. SWEETLY BABY is drawn best of all. He finished 1.75L behind the winner in his last start and looks fairly-handicapped in this contest. CROWN AVENUE likes to race on the speed. He finished third in his last outing and it is encouraging that French ace Antoine Hamelin has kept faith in the ride.
RACE 2
VIVA COUNCIL will want to get to the front of affairs from his inside barrier position. His 3kg apprentice claims will benefit him in this contest and he may be difficult to peg back in the closing stages. TREASURE CHEST won’t be short of race-fitness and he only lacked puff in the final furlong last time out. If he can switch off in the early stages then he should be right there where it matters most. MONEYMORE has been impressive in all of his three runs after a rest. He likes to race from just off the pace and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the wire.
RACE 3
SUPER RED DRAGON is in search of a hat-trick of wins. He beat Inno Legend by a length last time and the manner in which he won suggests there may be more to come from this individual. It must be noted that his rider is yet to be declared and it will be interesting to see who jumps aboard the son of Starspangledbanner. GOLD COMET is still on the upgrade and his first win looks on the horizon. Chad Schofield takes the ride and with the expected natural improvement, he should be able to throw out a challenge to the top selection. WAR LORD returns from a two-month layoff. The break may have done him the world of good and if putting his best foot forward then he can run into the money.
RACE 4
SHINEALOT and DRAGON COMMANDER were only separated by 1.5L last time when beaten by Sweetly Baby. There is only 0.5kg difference at the weights which suggests there shouldn’t be too much separating them at the wire. BULB ELITE produced a decent last effort from off the pace. It must be noted that his recent conqueror Virtus Star has won again since and the form line needs to be respected.
RACE 5
SOARING TOWER showed ability on debut when winning comfortably in this class. He won’t remain in this division for too long and he should take a power of beating despite shouldering top weight. MY ECSTATIC never showed on debut but he found plenty support which suggests he is showing good work back at home. He also had no luck in running and perhaps that run is best ignored. EXCELLENT CHARIOT returns from a break. He won his last start in fine fashion and if returning fit then he can run into the money.
RACE 6
KA YING EXCELLENT dictated terms fairly well last time. He only ran out of puff in the latter stages and with similar tactics, he can make amends with Magic Moreira in the saddle. IGNITING made an eye-catching return after a rest. He was only beaten 3L by the progressive Sky Darci and the form of that race must be good enough to pose a threat to the top selection. CHICKEN DANCE is much better than his poor latest when finishing in the rear. He was only beaten 2.75L though and if recapturing his best form then he can run into the money.
RACE 7
MY SUGAR is the best bet on the card. He has been beaten by the narrowest of margins in his last two outings and he can make amends despite having to shoulder top weight. CHEERFUL DAYS is another horse still clearly unexposed and on the upgrade. He finished 0.5L behind the winner in his second start and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be able to pose a threat to the top selection. CASIMIRO finished best of all from off the pace last time. He ran on from far back on that occasion and a repeat of that effort should find him finishing in the money.
RACE 8
JOYFUL FORTUNE is a horse that is still relatively unexposed. He won on debut and followed that up with a decent next outing when only outrun late by Ping Hai Bravo. With the expected natural improvement on offer, he should take a power of beating. DANCING FIGHTER returns from an eight-month layoff but he looked fit in a recent trial and it would be no surprise to see him pop up with Magic Moreira in the irons. METRO WARRIOR returns from a rest. The break may have done him the world of good and if returning fit, then he can run into the money.
RACE 9
PARTY EVERYDAY represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. He beat SKYEY SUPREME last time out and is 2kgs better off at the weights which should see him take an absolute power of beating. CLEAR CHOICE has placed in both of his efforts after a break. He should be cherry-ripe having his third run after a rest and will be right there when they reach the business end of affairs.
RACE 10
WILL POWER is in search of a hat-trick of wins in the lucky last race. He beat ENCORE BOY by a length in his penultimate outing and the pair meet on the same weight terms which suggests there shouldn’t be too much separating the pair when they reach the finishing post. The South African-bred LOBO’S LEGEND found a good form return last time at Happy Valley last time when defeating Harmony N Home. He jumps from an inside barrier position and although he faces stronger he should be able to make his presence felt.
