Race 1 – 07:00 – 2200m – Class 5
Selections: 13 – 2 – 10 – 1 – 4
YOUNG GLORY should be the one to follow in the opening race on the card. He found traffic in his last three starts and will be hoping for a smoother passage on his return to Sha Tin. With Teetan up, he will be looking to build on that latest run when stepping up to this 2200m. He has a solid record from his three attempts over the trip and from a reasonable draw, should be one of the major contenders at the business end. KING PRINT drops in class as he now falls below that mark of 40, on the back of some improving form. The removal of the blinkers appears to be a contributing factor to that improvement and with Purton up this time, he deserves respect in this league. SKY GEM and AMAZING AGILITY have both found improved draws on the back of dismal performances in their last starts respectively. With that said, both contenders have the credentials to suggest that a big performance is due over this sort of trip and they will have to be considered.

Race 2 – 07:30 – 1000m – Class 4
Selections: 9 – 1 – 13 – 5 – 4
DUBLIN STAR has been in good competitive form of late and he now bumps the sort of field where he has every chance of finding his first career win, at the 6th time of asking. He is yet to be unplaced over the 1000m and with the in-form Hamelin retaining the ride, he should be a big runner here. GOKO should be his biggest threat. The son of O’Reilly is drawn on the right side of the course for his return to the Sha Tin straight track, where he has notched up all his 4 career wins to date. He likes to use his speed out in front and with the 10-pound claimer up this time, he should feature prominently in the finish. JAZZ STEED continues to slip in the ratings and the son of Exceed And Excel will be looking to build on that latest outing, when tracking the leading line and staying on well in the finish. He’ll enjoy reverting to the 1000m here and must be included with plenty of scope for improvement.

Race 3 – 08:00 – 1200m – Class 4
Selections: 2 – 6 – 7 – 4 – 1
FORTUNE HAPPINESS lands the value bet tag on the back of some useful recent from. He finds a much-improved draw after having no such luck in his last three starts and that will certainly aid his early ambitions for a spot close to the front. He looks competitive off his current mark of 59 and should be worth following at a decent price. JUDY’S STAR also appears to be knocking on the door for a win and the son of Sebring should be the biggest danger to the top selection, if negating draw 8. He has improved in his last three starts since having the blinkers removed and must be included on his credentials over this course and distance. SMART CHARADE and DREAM WARRIORS are both finding threatening form as they both slip in the ratings and deserve inclusion.

Race 4 – 08:30 – 1400m – Class 4
Selections: 4 – 9 – 11 – 2 – 1
HEZA BEAUTY was his own worse enemy last time out, when taking a hold in the early stages. Having found strong favouritism on that occasion, he will be looking to recoup those losses on his return to the same course and distance, with Moreira retaining. He still has scope for improvement and from another useful draw, he should get the job done this time. STUNNING IMPACT caught the eye last time out, when finishing with a wet sail from close to the back of the field. That was when being fitted with the blinkers for the first time and it is no surprise to see them carded again. From gate 12, he will be relying on luck in running but he gets the services of the more than capable Karis Teetan in the irons. SUPER WINNER has also landed a tricky draw, but he will be looking to repeat that latest effort under the 2-pound claimer who retains the ride. He is yet to miss the top three from his three attempts over this course and distance and should feature prominently once again.

Race 5 – 09:00 – 1400m – Class 4
Selections: 6 – 2 – 7 – 1 – 4
CHEVALIER PRINCE produced an eye-catching debut last month, when finishing strongly from well back. That was over the 1200m and he now steps up to the 1400m for his follow up effort. From another plum draw, the New Zealand bred 3-year old should have the scope for enough improvement to win this. Purton rides and the pair form the best bet on the card. TRIUMPHANT HORSE returns to Sha Tin after two good performances at the Valley course, since dropping into this class. On his effort prior to that, over this course and distance, he looks the biggest opposition to the top one. MIGHTY POWER has slipped 10 points in the ratings in his last 5 starts and he gets the added benefit of the 10-pound claimer who does duty here. He’ll be just off the leading line in the early stages and his challenge won’t go unnoticed.

Race 6 – 09:35 – 1000m – Class 3
Selections: 6 – 2 – 1 – 9 – 11
We return to the 1000m straight course for the second of two events over this trip on Sunday and WAR OF COURAGE is tipped to take the lions share of the prize money. He lines up for just his seventh career outing here, having notched up two wins and four places so far. Having risen into this class three starts back, he has progressed well and is certainly on the way to bigger and better. He followed up that win over this course and distance in his penultimate start, with a solid try over 1200m last time when finishing 3rd. The drop in trip will suit this speedy son of Declaration Of War and he finds conditions to suit once again. The South African bred, CUE THE MUSIC, returns to a course and distance where he has featured in both starts so far and it’s a wonder why the Ferraris yard hasn’t brought him back sooner. Nevertheless, he finds conditions to suit with the further drop in ratings and should go right into the equation. SMART FOLKS has his Hong Kong debut here, on the back of a 2019 campaign in Group company in the US and UK. Purton takes the mount first up and he’ll be worth a close look in the canter past.

Race 7 – 10:05 – 1600m – Class 3
Selections: 6 – 8 – 7 – 4 – 9
GIFT OF LIFELINE finds a plum draw for what is expected to be a big performance this time around. The signs of late indicate that the step up to the mile is exactly what this son of Pierro has been looking for. He will be expected to settle a bit closer to the leading line this time around and with the blinkers refitted, he’ll be worth following at a decent price. CHEERFUL LEADER is yet to miss the first three places in his six attempts over this course and distance. He has followed up that recent win in Class 4 company with two solid efforts at this level. Moreira retains the ride from another useful draw and he will almost certainly be a factor in the finish. EVER LAUGH has also progressed well into this class and despite the tricky barrier, Zac Purton takes the mount this time around and he will be looking to add to that solid course and distance record.

Race 8 – 10:35 – 1800m – Class 2
Selections: 1 – 4 – 2 – 11 – 8
BUTTERFIELD has performed well in some decent company of late and the top-weight will relish this step up to a trip where he won his only start. Drawn well with the cross-noseband removed, Moreira retains the ride and he should be tough to beat. ENRICHMENT will be looking to go one better this time around, after finishing runner up in his last four starts. He has been drawn in the cheap seats in both of his last two starts and finds better luck in that department this time around. With that said, it is telling that Moreira has opted to ride the former having ridden both contenders in their respective last outings. SUPER OASIS drops back into Class 2 company after facing tougher opposition in that latest attempt. Drawn well, he will be looking to recapture that form he was showing prior to that run and if doing so, he’ll feature prominently.

Race 9 – 11:10 – 1400m – Class 3
Selections: 4 – 5 – 2 – 9 – 10
Back to Class 3 level for the penultimate race on the card and it’s SMOOTHIES who gets the nod for first. He did well to overcome a wide draw in his latest start, when staying on for second place after setting the fractions. From an improved draw, the 7-pound claimer retains the ride and with a win and a second from his three starts over this course and distance, he should have a great chance of winning this. PICKEN is the biggest danger on paper, with Joao Moreira taking the mount this time. The son of Duporth is best over this course and distance and if building on his latest effort when finishing second, he should go into the frame. TAKING AIM drops back into Class 3 company after two honest performances against stronger opposition recently. From pole position, Purton jumps aboard, and he will no doubt be playing the shadow role to the top selection throughout this race.

Race 10 – 11:45 – 1200m – Class 3
Selections: 11 – 3 – 2 – 5 – 8
PRESIDENT’S CHOICE jumps into Class 3 company in his bid for the hat-trick of wins. With both of his recent victories coming over this course and distance from wide barriers, he finds pole position here and Teetan retains. The 4-year old son of Redoute’s Choice should have plenty more to come and he should have little trouble overcoming this challenge with flying colours. INNER FLAME had to settle towards the back of the field last time out, when failing to overcome gate 12 in his attempt to maintain his unbeaten record. He finds another tricky draw to negate here but with Moreira up and a bit of luck in transit, he should fight this out. SUPERICH is unbeaten in his two attempts over this course and distance, and with Purton up from barrier 9, he must be included. MIG ENERGY has improved with every run so far and after overcoming an impossible draw last time out to finish just 1,5-lengths back in third, he will be tasked with repeating that effort from another tricky barrier. He has scope for more and with a bit of luck in running, he should be right there.
