Race 1
With the scratching of the original favourite, the way may well be cleared for the only filly left in the race, DIRTY DOT, to post her second career victory. She finished a close up second last time out over this c&d and may be able to show the boys the way home. LITTLE HERCULES finished close up last time out over the c&d when returning from a 25 week break. He could be the biggest threat to the former. KING’S AUTHORITY drops back in trip and will have 3kgs removed from his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. MOONLIGHT’S REWARD will have the same weight reduction for the services of his claiming appie and should be right up there when they hit the line.
Race 2
DALGARANGA and DON’T SPEED renew their rivalry here. The former did finish 0.1L behind the latter in their last clash over this c&d, but is 4kgs better off at today’s weights and should be able to reverse that result. PROZONE steps up in trip here but stayed on for third place last time out over six furlongs when returning from a 22-week break. If not in need of one more run, he should be considered here. IT’S DYNAMITE also steps up in trip, but will have the blinkers removed for the first time today and may do better as a result.
Race 3
ESCALATING has shown gradual improvement in his last two runs and finished fourth last time out over 1300M. He takes the step up to seven furlongs today and hopefully will continue along that same path. COCKY ED gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big danger to the former. His penultimate effort over this trip was encouraging. EXPLOSION steps up from 1300M and likes to race up with the pace in his races. He should not have a problem keeping going over the extra ground. FIRST STRIKE is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She tries the seven furlongs today and may well be looking for this greater test of stamina.
Race 4
NORD AVENIR was not disgraced last time out over seven furlongs, finishing just 1.5L behind the winner. She is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she should ensure that they know that they have been in a race. MISTER KRUMPETS finished well to win his maiden race last time out over the c&d. He takes on stronger here, but he might be up to the task on hand. SASSATIONAL is another 4yr old filly. She drops back from the mile of her last outing and she should be closing in on the frontrunner in the dash down to the wire. JUST FRIARS is a 6yr old mare. She, on the other hand, takes a step up in trip from her last outing over six furlongs. If taking to the extra distance, she should be included in all bets.
Race 5
NEMIROFF goes back to six furlongs after winning last time out over 1100M. His form over this longer distance is solid and he will be assisted by having 3kgs taken off his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice. WATTO’S FURY missed out on his hat-trick last time out over seven furlongs and drops back to the shorter journey. He could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice. GLIMMER GIRL is a 6yr old mare taking on males. She was staying on in her last run over 1100M and should not have an issue with the extra trip today. BEETHOVEN has his first run for his new trainer and gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he could upset the top three selections.
Race 6
KNIGHT TEMPEST has consistent overall form to his credit and won his last outing over seven furlongs. He steps up to a mile today, but he has drawn pole position which he is sure to put to good use. BARRY’S RABBIT was not too far back in his last run over this distance after having had three runs prior to that over further. On that effort, he should not be overlooked here. SMARTY is a 4yr old filly taking on males. She takes a hike in distance and has her first start for her new trainer. If acclimatized in her new environment, she should be considered here. MAJOR MAMBO showed marked improvement last time out over seven furlongs when just 0.8L behind the winner. If confirming that effort, he would be a runner here.
