Race 2
GIDEONS returns from a lengthy 47-week break. He has his first run for his new trainer, but he did win his barrier trial. Any betting support for him should be respected. QUEEN OF EMERALDS returns from a 17-week rest. She put up a good barrier trial and jumps from a handy draw. She should be involved in the finish here. BUATSI is another that resumes after an 18 weeks break and gets blinkers fitted for the first time. He should be respected in this contest. A BIG CHANCE makes his debut, but the engaging of Madeleine Wishart catches the eye. Any betting support for him should be taken note of.
Race 3
A fair number of the field here are having their first start and is always the case in these type of fields, a close eye should be kept on the betting markets. BOHEMIAN BOOM put in a good barrier trial and represents a powerful trainer/jockey combination. PALLADAS has a handy draw and also put up a good effort in his barrier trial. ALLE ZOU was probably not as good in his barrier trial, but he nevertheless should be considered here. PHANTOM COURT, on the other hand, put in a decent barrier trial but has a wide draw to negotiate.
Race 4
CITY SMART steps up in distance, but he is seldom too far off the action and should put in another bold effort today. WURNIC ran on well in her last start and has posted two places from her last five starts. She is a must for all bets. QIJI BELLEZZA has a handy draw and was running on well in her last outing over seven furlongs and should enjoy going the mile here. STEEL PIER has his peak run here. He steps up in trip, but he looks to be going in the right direction and should be considered here.
Race 5
ARTERIAL raced handily and then ran on well in the closing stages to win his last start over a mile, suggesting that the step up to nine furlongs will be to his liking. FASTNET CYCLONE showed courage to win his last outing over ten furlongs and should give another good account of himself in this line-up. AL JOOD is a filly taking on the boys and steps up in distance, but if taking to the journey, she should give the males a good run for their money. ENTERPRISE JACK has consistent recent form to his credit. He finished second last time out over a mile and may be better over this distance.
Race 6
GIN ‘N’ BITTERS returns from an 18-week rest, but is undefeated over this c&d and she will be looking to maintain that record today. I AM VENUS seems to be improving and was running on when finishing third last time out over this trip. BETTER THAN MAGIC drops back in distance, but he has won over the distance, so this should not be an issue. BLUE SEATTLE resumes from a lengthy 78-week break and has her first outing for her new trainer. Has has placed in both of his barrier trials and should be considered in this field.
Race 7
This looks to be a wide-open affair and the tentative first choice goes to COMBATIVITE, who takes a step up in distance. She has a wide draw to overcome, but she should be doing her best work late. MINOR LUCK finished well in his last outing over the mile and will enjoy getting 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. EPICURIOUS won her last start over 1300M and would be a big runner if enjoying the extra ground. MITTA MARY has only had the two starts to date, but did run on over seven furlongs last time out, suggesting that the mile will be within her grasp.
Race 8
Another open contest faces punters here. SCATHING has consistent recent form to his credit. He likes to race handy in his races and his handy draw is a plus. DUPIE DOLL won going away in her last start over this trip. That was only her second career outing and she may have more to offer here. HELL ON TURF returns from a 28-week rest, but he did finish second in his barrier trial and should be respected here. ROMAN REPUBLIC won over 1100M on debut and he could be almost anything. Keep an eye on the betting to see if his connections fancy their chances.
Race 9
SUGAR ZONE won his last outing over this distance and will be hoping to complete a quick double here. COASTAL BOY ran on really well last time out over six furlongs and on that performance, he should enjoy going the extra furlong today. FOXPACK finished second last time out over six furlongs and is another who could appreciate the extra distance of today’s contest. He likes to race up with the pace and is proven on softer tracks. CONQUER THE STARS only just failed to win his last outing over six furlongs and is another who enjoys softer going. He should be afforded the utmost respect in this field.
