Race 3

HAUNTING SPIRIT showed marked improvement to finish third last time out over 1500M, one and a half lengths behind the winner. He looked a possible winner at the 200M mark that day and is sure to appreciate the drop in distance. He has a wideish draw eight, but nevertheless could still be the one to side with here. PIA SOFIA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys. She showed plenty of speed before ending up in sixth place in her last outing over five furlongs, just over two lengths behind the winner. She has her peak run today and from her handy draw two, she could be the biggest danger to the top choice. COSMIC BULLET returns from a 21-week break, but has two barrier trials, winning one and finishing second in the latest. He drops in trip after finishing fourth last time out over a mile and could do better as a result. Of the three unraced entrants in the race, FANTASTIC BABY may be the pick. He has had the benefit of four barrier trials, winning the latest. Any betting support for him or either of the other two first-timers should be respected.

Race 4

With the late scratching of one of his main rivals, the way may have been cleared for TRAMINER to chalk up his second career victory. He has not finished far off the action in all three of his runs to date, winning over five furlongs on debut, finishing third second time out, and then second in his latest start over 1100M, just a length behind the winner when returning from a lengthy 74-week absence. He will have to negotiate draw seven but is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. SIR ROCKET has only had the two runs, finishing second on debut over 1100m and then winning his next outing over five furlongs by a head. The way he finished off his race last time out suggests that the extra distance will be to his liking. His draw ten is a slight concern, but he should keep the top pick honest. SUPERTANKER is a 3yr old filly taking on males. She followed up her penultimate run victory over 1300M with a second-place finish next time out over 1300M, 0.4L off the victor. She was only caught in the shadow of the post that day and from her kinder draw three, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

GIDGEE GUY has consistent formlines to his name and had to be switched at the 200M mark before finishing second in his last outing over five furlongs, a length and a half back from the winner and should have finished closer to the winner but for that incident. The form of that race has been franked and from gate four, he could emerge as the value bet on the program. INVINCIBLE KISS is a 6yr old mare taking on boys. She showed solid improvement to win her penultimate run over five furlongs and then finished second next time out over the same trip, one length off the winner when returning from a 13-week rest. She is sure to put her pole position to good use. BAT PAD is a younger 3yr old filly. She has only had the two starts to date and showed the expected improvement second time out when winning by just over a length over five furlongs. She hit the front at the 200M mark and then showed determination to fight off all the late challengers. She jumps from draw seven and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race to close off the Jackpot and some caution is advised. NEW TYCOON has posted two solid recent efforts over this mile journey and after his penultimate victory, he stayed on well to finish fourth next time out, 0.8L behind the winner. He will have to overcome a wide draw 10, but he should be right up there when they hit the line. OFF HER ROCA is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she showed massive improvement to win her last start over this c&d by just under a length. She retains the services of ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham and if confirming that last effort, she should give the males a good run for their money, despite facing gate eight. CORDYCEPS MIRACLE has shown steady improvement in his last three runs and had to be eased at the 1300M mark in his last outing before finishing second over this mile trip. He is drawn one inside the latter and should be respected in this line-up. WELL KNOWN is seldom far off the winner and was bumped at the start of his last outing when 1.1L behind the second selection in the race mentioned above. As he faces the former on 2.5kg better weight terms today, a form reversal is a definite possibility.
