Race 1
RECOGNISE showed good signs of returning to best form
in her last start over nine furlongs, on this course. She moved up very well
that day, but never went on with her effort in the last 150m. She tries the
2000m for the first time today and if seeing out the extra distance on offer,
should be hard to beat. It is encouraging that jockey Barend Vorster takes the
ride. AZZUREOUS won his last start well at Bordertown. He
burst through to hit the lead at the 150m mark and kept going strongly. Paul
Gatt retains the ride aboard the son of Dedline and the pair merit healthy
respect.

Race 2
SKILLED WIZZARD is the best bet on today’s card. He has
finished runner-up in his last two starts over 1300m at Morphettville Parks. He
tries the seven furlongs for the first time and the manner in which he finished
off his race last time suggests there should be no issues with the rise in
trip. It must be noted that apprentice Kayla Crowther has a 26%-win strike-rate
for this trainer. DALAKARA made the natural improvement when finishing
fourth in his last start. He finished just 0.1 lengths behind the top selection
that day, but SKILLED WIZZARD gets the nod due to him receiving the
apprentice claim. Paul Gatt sticks with the ride and the pair should be right
there in the run down to the wire.

Race 3
NIKE BELLE is the value bet on today’s card. She was a
tad disappointing in her last start after finishing just behind the winner in
her previous two outings. Her best run to date has been under this apprentice
Lachlan Neindorf, who is a star of the future. From her wide draw, she is
likely to slot in near the rear and mow down the frontrunners in the run down
to the finishing post. HOLY
SANGRIA
has produced two good
efforts since her 17-week break. She moved up very well in her last start but
was grabbed in the dying stages. She is yet to be unplaced from four starts
over this distance and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 4
BARACONI produced a promising debut effort when
finishing third over this course and distance. She raced from a handy position
and stayed on well at the business end. She has been rested 11 weeks since that
effort, during which time she would have strengthened up. With the natural
improvement that is expected, she should be the one they all have to beat. CHAMPAGNE AFFAIR has produced two decent efforts to date. She
was very green in both those outings and would have come on with the
experience. If fit and well, she could be the one to throw out the biggest
challenge to the top selection.

Race 5
SIDESTREET produced a promising debut effort when
finishing third. He was then given a lengthy 37-week rest and in his comeback
run finished second. He moved up like a winner in his last start, but showed
signs of just needing it in the closing stages of the race. He should strip a
much fitter horse this afternoon and should go one better. NORTHERN FACTOR is a filly taking on the boys. Her last two
starts over 900m have been good. She jumps from a handy draw this afternoon and
should the top selection fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the
pieces.

Race 6
HASTA LA BULLET won his last two starts well. He tries the
twelve furlongs for the first time today and the manner in which he drew off to
win last time, suggests he should see out the extra distance on offer. Emily
Finnegan has won on him in his last two races and the pair have a good chance
of notching up the hat-trick. LE
DUPE
is showing good signs of
returning to best form in his last two starts. He boxed on gamely in his last
start and should enjoy the step up in distance today. Jeffrey Maund retains the
ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 7
JUSTA JILLAROO produced four good runs before winning her
maiden by over six lengths last time. She does take a rise in class today, but
the manner in which she won last time suggests there is more to come from the
daughter of Dr Doute’s. South African jockey Karl Zechner does duty and the
pair merit respect. EXALTED GOLD has produced top form recently. She won her
last start well over this course and distance. She gets 2kgs removed from her
back today thanks to her claiming apprentice and should the top choice fluff
her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 8
BALAABEL
produced good form before given an 18-week
break. She placed in her only attempt over this distance. She makes her course
debut this afternoon and if not in need of the run, she can make a winning
return to racing. MR RANGER should have finished much closer to the
winner in his last start as he was held up in the final 100m. He has won once
and finished second once in as many outings over this distance. He gets the
services of apprentice Lachlan Neindorf who will take 1.5kgs off his back. If
suited to the track, he could be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to
the top selection.
