Race 5

A 6yr old mare and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta. KRAKATOA ERUPTION has consistent formlines to her name and has finished second in her last two starts, the latest over this distance, just one length behind the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only collared close to home. She has cracked pole position and is likely to attempt similar tactics today. EURO BELLE returns from a 17-week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust. She drops in trip after finishing a neck third last time out over seven furlongs and may do better as a result. She was cut into that day, which makes her effort that much more encouraging. She will have to negotiate a wide draw of eleven, but she should be doing her best work late. KING OF THE DESERT has his first run since a 22-week absence but has had two barrier trials, winning the latest. He has finished third in his last two outings, the latest over six furlongs, just over three and a half lengths back from the winner. He jumps from gate seven and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

Not too dissimilar to the previous race, but in this case, a 7yr old and a 5yr old mare could dominate the finish to this contest and secure the exacta. KIRIANA goes for her hat-trick after wins over a mile and the latest over ten furlongs, where she put over four lengths between herself and the opposition. She hit the front at the 200M mark that day and then kicked on well to win easing down at the line. She drops down to nine furlongs but based on her last two efforts, this should not be an issue. Her draw five will do her no harm. DIVINE DIVA is drawn one outside the top choice and followed up her penultimate run victory over a mile with a third-place finish over the same c&d, 1.7L back from the victor. Her jockey suggested after that run that she needs more ground, which she gets today. WARP SPEED jumped awkwardly before recovering well to make good late progress to finish second last time out over this c&d, just a half-length behind the winner. He gets gate three and should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 7

EXACTAMENTE attempts his hat-trick here after winning his last two starts over 1100M at this track. He is a speedy sort who led into the straight and then held off the chasing pack to win by three-quarters of a length. He was reported to have cast a shoe-in running as well as being cut into that day and although drawn wideish in gate nine, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. PINNACLE STAR returns from a 22-week break and has had the one barrier trial, where he finished second. He is seldom far off the action and finished a head back from the winner last time out over six furlongs. From his draw three, he could threaten the top pick. PARKO won his penultimate outing over six furlongs by half a length and then ended up in fourth place next time out over the same trip, just over a length and a half behind the winner. He jumps from draw seven and should turn in another honest performance here. BARODA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her penultimate start over the c&d, but then flopped next time out over the same c&d and was immediately rested for 28 weeks. She returns here after having had three barrier trials, where she finished second in the latest. From pole position, she should feature in the finish.

Race 8

SIDEKISS has his hat-trick run after winning his last two starts over this c&d, the latest by a short head and the form of that race has since been franked. He jumps from gate six and will have 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. The trio of wins looks very much on the cards and he is made the best bet for the day. INDIAN DREAMER has improved in his last two starts and although recorded as finishing fifth in his last outing over 1300M, he was only two and a half lengths behind the winner. He has a hand draw four and gets the services of ex-SA jockey Robbie Fradd. In addition, the blinkers are removed for the first time today and if this move proves to be successful, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the former. TEST OF WAR made solid improvement to win his last start over six furlongs by some 2.8L. He faces a wide twelve draw but has good early gate speed which he should use to move across without expending too much energy.
