CAPE TO RIO’S last two starts over this distance have been good. She set the pace last time, but was outrun in the latter stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

SPEED MACHINE had excuses in his last start and that effort is best ignored. The son of Legislate has been gelded since that outing which may have been what he needed. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. He is a horse loaded with ability and can get back to winning ways.

IRISH MORNING followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over this C&D. He moved up well that day, but was outrun in the latter stages. The son of Gimmethegreenlight takes a drop in class and can win in this field.

QUICKSTEP LADY finished 1 length behind ALFRED’S GIRL in her last start. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade will be staying on strongly at the business end.
