Race 1: KING HORIZONS(8)
Race 3: GIN RUMMY(9)
Race 5: JET TURBINE(1)
Race 7: GYPSY TINKER(1)
Race 1: KING HORIZONS(8) – TOP BET
Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
KING HORIZONS had two very promising starts in KZN as a juvenile last season but was gelded a mere four days after his last effort. The Toreador gelding was rested for 22 weeks since and would have strengthened nicely during that break. The form of both his sprint starts has worked out well and there should be lots more improvement to come from the Kotzen inmate. He makes his debut in his home province and should take a power of beating, if fit and well.
Race 6: WESTERN WU(7)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN
WESTERN WU has shown good improvement since returning from a break and going over ground. He caused a major stir when he won his maiden going away over this c & d on his comeback run at huge odds but his last run proved that that was no fluke. The Dynasty colt was again poorly drawn but he finished stron- gly for a close sixth, beaten just two lengths over a mile, despite finding plenty of traffic issues. He has finally cracked a good draw and will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the rest. He meets a similar field and should go close.
Race 7: SAINT SOPHIA(4)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS
SAINT SOPHIA is in very good form but she has proven costly to follow in her last few starts. The daughter of Dynasty has finished runner-up in her last four starts over this distance but always gets going too late in her races. She did just that when she ran on for second behind Fidelity over this c & d last time. However, the trick to a victory could be the switch to today’s summer course and the long run-in. She has many of today’s rivals beat on collateral form and can finally get the much deserved maiden win.
Race 8: EMBLEM HONOUR(3)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
EMBLEM HONOUR is lightly raced and he produced his career best effort when he was caught late after racing handy over nine furlongs on this course, three weeks ago. The son of Encosta De Lago had to overcome a wide draw on that occasion but jumps from barrier 4 today. He has plenty of scope for more improvement and the slight drop in trip could play into his hands.

Race 3: WATERS EDGE(1) (Each Way)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Adam MARCUS
WATERS EDGE has come back to her best since returning to Cape Town after the winter season tour to KZN. The speedy daughter of Mullins Bay has had two promising comeback runs over this c & d and she will be cherry-ripe today.
