Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: BRILLIANT IDEA(1)

Jockey: Du Plooy C – Trainer: Snaith J S

BRILLIANT IDEA was expected to do more when she went off as favourite last time out but that was her first experience around the turn. Still, she ran on eye-catchingly late after having to switch at a crucial stage. The daughter of Lateral showed plenty of class down the straight prior to that and has tons of improvement still to come. She can make amends.

Race 2: MULHER DE BRANCO(13)
Jockey: Fayd’Herbe B – Trainer: Ramsden J

The Sails Set formline on 05/09 has worked out extremely well and could be worth following in this competitive second event of the day. The grey filly MULHER DE BRANCO was unfancied when she made an eye-catching debut over this c & d in the contest referred to above. The daughter of Visionaire moved up well before tiring late into 5th, beaten exactly three lengths in a big field. That experience would have brought her on immensely and she can stake a serious claim in this field.

Race 4: SEVENTH SISTER(1)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Bass M W

SEVENTH SISTER is a long-time maiden but she has shown some useful form and is a definite contender in this field, courtesy of her quality last effort. The daughter of Seventh Rock tired late over a mile from a bad draw but will prefer this shorter distance today. Furthermore, she has cracked pole position. Having said that, she takes on a few decent three-year olds and will be pushed hard.

Race 6: MAMBO MIME(2)

Jockey: Fayd’Herbe B – Trainer: Kannemeyer D

This is another exciting but intriguing contest and all eyes will firmly be focused on the three-year old MAMBO MIME from the Dean Kannemeyer yard. This son of Mambo In Seattle blossomed during his KZN winter stint and he confirmed his class when easily winning his seasonal debut in a competitive field over this trip on Greyville’s polytrack. The three-year old bay colt is obviously held in high regard by his conditioner as he takes his place in this line-up despite a big mass against older rivals. He tries the left hand turn for the first time but has been on this track previously and still has plenty of scope. His good draw can enable him to defy the odds.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: LINE BREAK(8)
Jockey: V.Niekerk G – Trainer: Bass M W

LINE BREAK began his career with much promise and he is better than his fair recent form suggests. That said, he was far from disgraced behind top colt Act Of War in the Matchem Stakes over seven furlongs last time and now has his peak run. The Dynasty gelding is suited to this drop in distance and his c & d victory over GULF STORM on Met day brings him right into contention.
