Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: CREDIBILITY(3)
Race 2: CAPTAIN REI(1)
Race 4: SCHISM(2)
Race 5: HAMMIE’S DYNASTY(5)
Race 3: ROSEY PEG(3)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH – Trainer: Adam MARCUS
The Adam Marcus yard could again come to the fore here and they saddle the daughter of Jay Peg, ROSEY PEG. She has improved nicely with each start and was desperately unlucky not to have gone even closer than a good fourth last time as her jockey rode her with a slipped saddle throughout the contest over 1500m at Durbanville. She ran on nicely for third over this c & d in her penultimate outing and can make amends today. She jumps from a midfield draw.
Race 4: CAPTAINOFMYSOUL(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
CAPTAINOFMYSOUL boasts cracking form and she has finished runner-up in her last five starts. She has met some top sorts along the way but stayed on well for second behind Hammie’s Hooker over this trip at Durbanville in a feature, three weeks ago. She was returning from a 17 week break that day so will strip much fitter. The daughter of Captain Al is well treated by the weights and with no other likely frontrunner here, Anton Marcus could dictate terms on her. She is a very courageous type and could fight off challenges and win.
Race 7: HOT TICKET(4)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
HOT TICKET has lots of class about him and he showed that with a very successful KZN winter season campaign. He was slightly unlucky not to have won the Grade 2 Derby over this distance at Clairwood in his penultimate outing but looks set to have a cracking four-year old season. He needed his decent comeback run in a feature over seven furlongs three weeks ago and will strip much fitter today. He will be tested by some quality seasoned campaigners here but could prove equal to the task and can defy the odds, even under this big mass. His biggest strength is his swift turn of foot and that will stand him in good stead here.
Race 9: BEACH BEAUTY(12) – TOP BET
The brilliant mare BEACH BEAUTY makes her seasonal debut in what is likely to be her final campaign. The dual Grade 1 winning mare has done everything asked of her and she cruised to victory over a mile at Greyville last time, despite being shockingly drawn. She is no stranger to the Cape, having been successful in the Grade 1 Paddock Stakes over 1800m here, earlier in the year. The daughter of Dynasty is versatile and is unbeaten from two efforts over this trip. She has accounted for most of today’s rivals in the past and will take a power of beating, despite returning from a 16 week break. She was super-impressive when winning a Grade 2 the last time she returned from a layoff. She has drawn well at barrier 3.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 6: FULL REGALIA(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN
This is an intriguing contest and could be a great tactical battle which could see Anton Marcus come up trumps. He partners the Joey Ramsden trained daughter of Captain Al, FULL REGALIA who needed her comeback against stronger, ten days ago. She went close under a big mass over ten furlongs in her penultimate outing but was most impressive when she led throughout to win, four starts ago. The five year old mare has a good c & d record and may be allowed to dictate terms in this small field of 8 and it isn’t likely that Marcus will go very hard in front. She will strip much fitter today and can pull this off.
