Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: OLYMPIAN(2)
Race 2: KING HORIZONS(2)
Race 3: EARTHWIND’NFIRE(3)
Race 6: JACKSON(1)
Race 2: KING HORIZONS(2) – TOP BET
Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
KING HORIZONS has shown lots of promise but may have just needed his comeback run over the minimum trip, two weeks ago. He was returning from a lengthy 22 week absence on that occasion and should strip much fitter here. He should be more effective over this extra furlong and could prove tough to beat.
Race 3: OUR JET(10)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Mike BASS
This is a moderate contest but the lightly raced duo of OUR JET and BADGER’S TRAIL could make plenty of improvement. The former gets the narrow verdict with in-form Glen Hatt aboard. The Mike Bass inmate had a fair sprint over the minimum trip and then improved slightly when trying this c & d, second time out. Interestingly, he raced with a slipped saddle on that occasion but still made late progress and will strip fitter today. He jumps from a midfield draw and should have plenty more to offer.
Race 4: GOLDIVA(1)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Greg ENNION
GOLDIVA has had her fair share of opportunities but she has produced some smart efforts to date. She was caught late over this c & d last time but finished 3.50 lengths ahead of the third placed runner, GLITTERING JET and has bright claims in this line-up. She jumps from another decent draw.
Race 6: DIVINE JET(2)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
It has been a while since DIVINE JET has enjoyed a decent spell without being on the sidelines and he gets that opportunity today. He has always been a top class sprinter with a serious turn of foot but has been plagued with issues. However, he has done well on his two comeback runs and he finished strongly for third behind TEVEZ over this c & d, last time. He meets the latter on 6.5kgs better terms and has strong claims of reversing the form.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 8: REIM(7) (Each Way)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Glen PULLER
REIM didn’t shape when he raced in feature company in his last two starts but he drops heavily in class here. He is above-average and only took two runs to shed his maiden tag. He did make good late progress for 5th in a strong field over seven furlongs three runs back and should relish the mile. The son of Ashaawes is sure to enjoy the long run-in and he represents decent each/way value.
