TOP BET

Race 4: LLOYD’S LEGACY(6)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

LLOYD’S LEGACY
showed exactly why he is highly rated by his top class conditioner as he skated clear of subsequent easy winner Mount Keith in the maiden ranks over this c & d, second time out. The imported inmate from the Dennis Drier yard certainly made his debut experience count and he has heaps of improvement still to come. His conditioner has thrust him into the deep-end on his handicap debut today but the More Than Ready colt should prove equal to the task at hand and justify his high merit rating. The hard-knocking handicappers should provide a stiff test for him though.

Race 5: SILVAN STAR(2)
Jockey:
Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The longer run-in of the summer course could make a huge difference for the Glen Kotzen trained daughter of Silvano, SILVAN STAR. This four-year-old bay filly is above-average and she is better than her fair last two runs indicate. She often gets going late and is weighted to be extremely competitive with recent conquerors LOUISIANA and LEISURE TRIP.

Race 6: LEGAL EAGLE(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Sean TARRY

Just eight entrants exit the gates for this fascinating Grade 2 contest that features multiple Grade 1 winners. Of course, most of the runners are still preparing for the summer campaign so they won’t be at their peak but nonetheless an enthralling finish is expected. The brilliant LEGAL EAGLE had an eye- catching seasonal debut sprint on the Highveld recently and that proved his well-being. He returns to the scene of one of his finest triumph’s in the Queen’s Plate over this c & d at the turn of the year. The Tarry inmate is no doubt once again targeting that event and a likely sedate gallop in today’s contest won’t be an issue.

Race 9: BANNER HILL(3)

Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The top weights are proven stayers in this final event and they should fight out a thrilling finish. BANNER HILL is definitely on the up and he finished smartly to beat a fair field of hard-knocking handicappers going away over ten furlongs on this course, three weeks ago. The Tiger Hill gelding is even better over this extra distance as he proved with back-to-back wins during his KZN winter campaign. He only just got the better of the veteran gelding JUDDERING ANGEL that day and although he is 6.5kgs worse off with that rival for the neck beating, the four-year old inmate from the Kotzen yard is still improving and he should be very competitive. He could certainly be worth following in the stayers’ ranks this campaign.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: QUICK BROWN FOX(11)

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

A top class field of fillies line-up for this Grade 1 contest over the mile and this time there should be a solid gallop which will result in a true result. The unbeaten QUICK BROWN FOX could be a very special filly in the making and her two flawless sprint victories are the early signs. Whilst her pedigree doesn’t convince that she will handle the mile, her excellent turn of foot is her major asset and the daughter of Foxwedge (Fastnetrock) could be equal to today’s monumental task on her debut run around the turn. She has cracked the best draw.
