Final Comment: Top quality sort, not disgraced in Grade 1 last time but versatile, drop in distance suits perfectly.

Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN – Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO
The high class TWIST OF FATE renews his rivalry with the excellent ONE WORLD with the score one-apiece and the pair should have this mile contest to themselves on collateral form. The former dictated terms and stayed on for 2nd, half a length in front of the latter on the c & d effort behind subsequent Queen’s Plate runner-up Soqrat in the Guineas last month. The Ramsden inmate then captured the Grade 3 Politician Stakes over nine furlongs under a big mass next time out. The latter tasted defeat for the first time in his career last month but also drops heavily in class and should pose a serious threat to the first selection.
Final Comment: Impressive last win, beat ONE WORLD by half a length over this c & d prior to that, respect.

Cape Flying Championship – Gr 1
Race 6: DUTCH PHILIP(9)
Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON – Jockey: Bernard FAYD’HERBE
DUTCH PHILIP has been below-par this term but the drop to the minimum distance with the aid of blinkers should suit his cause and the capable son of What A Winter can raise his game at the highest level today.
Final Comment: Much better than improved last run with headgear, can pull this off.

Cape Derby – Gr 1
Race 7: SAILING LIZARD(12)
Trainer: Willem A NEL – Jockey: Randall SIMONS
An extremely tricky renewal of the Grade 1 Derby confirmed by the wide open betting market. The Nel inmate SAILING LIZARD’s last run proved that he is capable in this company and the progressive son of Sail From Seattle should have finished closer but for being slightly impeded by the riderless horse, BUNKER HUNT from the Snaith yard. The first selection has proven himself over this extra furlong.
Final Comment: Improving with each run, should have finished closer last time, upset potential.

Majorca Stakes – Gr 1
Magic Tips VALUE Bet
Race 8: CLOUDS UNFOLD(13)
Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON – Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER
The defending champion SNOWDANCE didn’t disgrace herself among the elite in the recent Queen’s Plate over this c & d and is back facing her own sex on her peak outing today. She clearly has the measure of her older rivals but the younger duo of recent unbeaten Guineas winner FRONT AND CENTRE and the high class CLOUDS UNFOLD could pose a huge threat to her title defence. The latter has just over two lengths to find with the former on their Guineas clash but it must be noted that the yard was going through a quiet patch at the time and she could be a totally different proposition today. Of course they are slightly out at the weights on official ratings but the pair have certainly not reached their peak as yet.
Final Comment: Another brilliant three-year old, can finish closer to 12 on 15/12 run.

Race 9: DO IT AGAIN(7)
Trainer: Justin SNAITH – Jockey: Richard FOURIE
DO IT AGAIN had a remarkable recent triumph over a mile in the Queen’s Plate and last season’s July victor has had the ideal preparation coming into this prestigious contest where he will love the step- up in distance on his peak showing. New Turf Carriers Stayers – Gr 2
Race 10: STRATHDON(4)
The powerful Snaith outfit should be at it again here and their proven classy stayer STRATHDON has had the ideal preparation coming into this event where he meets his recent conquerors GIMME ONE NIGHT and PACIFIC CHESTNUT on highly favourable weight terms. The former is the pick of the latter pairing as he attempts to notch up a fourth straight triumph but the big mass highlights the size of his task.
Final Comment: Has enjoyed a great preparation, the one to beat at the weights.
