There are many well-bred newcomers who should be respected though.

MISS KATALIN has produced two useful attempts to date and she ran on strongly for an eye-catching 4th in open company over this c & d, second time out. She concedes ground at the start which is often a concern but the well-related daughter of Trippi clearly has much more to give and she should go close back against her own generation.

The extremely well-related Silvano colt, ZANZIBARIAN has shown smart credentials up to a mile and is expected to love every bit of today’s ten furlongs. The full-brother to the classy staying filly Zafira has obvious improvement to come and he should go extremely close here.

TEVEZ will strip much fitter today in his quest to exact revenge on recent conqueror LA FAVOURARI whom he meets on 3kgs favourable terms. The top quality veteran gelding has no issues with this shorter trip, having finished just out of the money at Grade 1 level over this c & d in his penultimate start.

This is another small field where the Brett Crawford team could control the pace to their benefit. However, the recently relocated CHRISTMAS CAROL is expected to be just off the speed from the best draw and she can bounce back to form. The former Gauteng resident showed lots of earlier potential before a few setbacks but she showed signs of a form return in her penultimate outing at handicap level. The runner-up of that start Nother Russia triumphed in a Grade 1 subsequently. This daughter of Western Winter would have come on from her moderate last six-furlong sprint and she will be fitter.
