Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: LORD MARSHAL(6)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

The three-year old LORD MARSHAL produced an extremely creditable last run on the tight Durbanville circuit despite being drawn widest of all. He was running on smartly for 2nd behind a top class sort and now has his peak run. He showed his true ability last season and has obviously trained on this campaign. The chestnut colt is favourably weighted and should go very close wtih Sean Cormack in the saddle.

Race 3: MULHER DE BRANCO(9)

Jockey: Bernard FAYD’HERBE – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The grey filly MULHER DE BRANCO made the expected improvement when she ran on strongly for a close 2nd over six furlongs on this track, ten days ago. She clearly has lots more to offer and her pedigree suggests that she will love every bit of today’s extra furlong. The daughter of Visionaire will be severely tested on her first venture around the turn and she is drawn wide but there is good scope for progress and she can be followed with confidence.

Race 5: JOINERS ARMS(3)

Jockey: Anthony ANDREWS – Trainer: Eric SANDS

JOINERS ARMS has been facing considerably stronger for some time now and he takes a big dip in class here. The Greys Inn gelding is clearly at his best over this c & d and he produced a cracking effort in his penultimate start. The Eric Sands inmate was surprisingly docked two pounds after his last run over further and he could take full advantage of the handicapper’s generosity.

Race 8: BORA BORA(5)

Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

BORA BORA has improved smartly since racing in this province and he ran on strongly for a close 2nd over seven furlongs, two weeks ago. He may have just needed the run after returning from a short break and has always given the indication that he could enjoy going over ground. The Black Minnaloushe colt has lots more improvement to come and he should give another good account of himself.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: ROMAN RIDGE(10)
Jockey: Gareth WRIGHT – Trainer: Shane HUMBY

There are some useful three-year old entrants in this field but they will be severely tested with their big masses and a few older runners are well-weighted to be competitive. The four-year old ROMAN RIDGE heads the latter category and he has shown signs of improvement in his last two starts over this distance. Incidentally, he was equipped with blinkers on both those occasions and made late progress to finish close-up. He continues to steadily drop in the ratings and the likely strong gallop will suit him.
