Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: HARLEM NOCTURNE(2)
Race 2: BOY FROM BRAZIL(2)
Race 3: REBEL’S RANSOM(2)
Race 7: LONDON THEATRE(7)
Race 1: HARLEM NOCTURNE(2)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD
HARLEM NOCTURNE is lightly raced but has shown some promise to date. She stayed on for a close fourth behind male rivals over this c & d, recently, despite being slow into stride. The daughter of Trippi has that nasty tendency to be slow out of the gates which is a concern, but she certainly has plenty of room for improvement. She is back against her own sex and merits healthy respect.
Race 2: SURREY(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
SURREY has come back to form since his long layoff and he stayed on for a good third over this c & d in yielding conditions, two weeks ago. He should have more improvement to offer and merits healthy respect in this field. Karl Neisius retains the ride.
Race 5: TOUR DE VAR(7)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
TOUR DE VAR has benefitted from the lengthy absence and he has had two promising comeback runs over this c & d. The son of Var took on much stronger in both those efforts and he ran on eye-catchingly for third behind the unbeaten Viva La Var over this c & d, seven days ago. His conditioner is obviously pleased with his progress since and he should go very close on his third run after the break.
Race 7: MAXIMUM JET(1)
Jockey: Jason SMITSDORFF – Trainer: Paddy KRUYER
MAXIMUM JET is a smart sort that has shown great versatility. She is most effective with frontrunning tactics and she won a feature over a mile in June. She then tired late into third in a Grade 3 event over 2200m. The daughter of Jet Master has kept her form in both her comeback runs and she was close up over ten furlongs, recently. She drops in class and her trainer has negated her big mass by engaging a 2.5kgs claiming apprentice. She should be cherry-ripe on her third run back from her break and quite interestingly, she is unbeaten from two c & d efforts. She could enjoy a soft lead in this event.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 9: NOBLE COLOUR(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Jason SMITSDORFF – Trainer: Glen PULLER
NOBLE COLOUR has had two useful runs since arriving in the Cape. The former KZN inmate appears a likely stayer and he did just that when he set the pace over nine furlongs last time. That was his first try in blinkers and he wears the headgear again today. The extra furlong will be right up his alley and he receives a 2.5kgs apprentice claim. He could be a handful on this new course with his front running tactics.
