Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: DELAGO DELIGHT(10)
Race 2: UNHOLY ALLEGIANCE(14)
Race 3: BLAZE OF NOON(2)
Race 8: RUN LIKE HELL(7)
Race 3: BLAZE OF NOON(2)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
BLAZE OF NOON has progressed rapidly with each of his four starts and he stayed on for a good second over this c & d in yielding conditions, two weeks ago. The son of Dynasty has lots more scope for improvement and he should go very close in this contest. He jumps from a handy draw and gets a top pilot up.
Race 5: NONKI POO(4)
Jockey: Christopher PULLER – Trainer: Paul REEVES
NONKI POO possesses a strong finish and that was evident when she won her last start going away from TAKEYOUROATH over nine furlongs on this course, four weeks ago. She was given a five pound penalty for that win and now meets the runner-up on 4kgs worse terms. That does make her task very difficult but a likely decent gallop will suit her well. The drop in trip is no issue for the daughter of Stagelight and she can still defy the odds.
Race 6: ROMAN MANNER(10) – TOP BET
Jockey: Gerrit SCHLECHTER – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
The sole three-year old in this contest, ROMAN MANNER is progressing nicely with each run and the Kannemeyer inmate has already shown his versatility. His class carried him through when he won a very good contest over six furlongs at Durbanville last time and he has tons of scope for improvement. He takes a huge rise in class today but the extra furlong is right up his alley and he shoulders bottom weight of just 52kgs. The son of Holy Roman Emperor could prove equal to the task at hand and he gets top lightweight jockey Gerrit Schlechter in the irons from pole position.
Race 9: HEADSTRONG HARRY(3)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Darryl HODGSON
HEADSTRONG HARRY never got into the hunt when he tried seven furlongs from a poor draw at Durbanville last time. His previous form shows that he is most effective down the straight over this trip for now and his conditioner has wasted little time in reverting to sprints. He has finished runner-up in all four of his c & d efforts and should quickly bounce back to form today. Interestingly, Karl Neisius gets the ride on the grey gelding and it was this same jockey who had gone closest to winning with him on debut over this c & d.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 4: PRESCIENT(10) (Each Way)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD
PRESCIENT has shown above-average ability in her three starts thus far. She won her debut going away over the minimum trip in yielding conditions at Durbanville and then only got going late from a wide draw over 1300m, next time out. She then ran on strongly for a close third over six furlongs on this course last time and is bred to love every bit of today’s trip. The daughter of Count Dubois shoulders a light mass of 52.5kgs and her in-form regular pilot will need to call upon all of his experience to help her in overcoming her wide draw.
