Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Snaith yard holds a very strong hand in this contest with JET SUPREME and CAPTAINOFMYSOUL and the preference is for the extremely well-weighted daughter of Jet Master. Interestingly, she isn’t the stable elect but in-form jockey Sean Cormack has a good relationship with her and she is 3kgs better off on official ratings with her stablemate. She likes this c & d and needed her comeback run but she still made steady late progress for third behind Hammie’s Hooker, despite losing valuable ground at the start. The latter finished 2.50 lengths ahead of her that day but the top rating is now 2kgs better off and has a big chance of reversing that form, especially if she jumps on terms. She will strip much fitter today.

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Glen PULLER

NOBLE COLOUR had a decent local debut when he made some good late progress for a never dangerous 4th over 2400m on this course, two weeks ago. That said, the former KZN campaigner is probably better suited to this trip and the equipping of blinkers could make a huge impact. He should build on that effort and merits healthy respect today.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

The Kannemeyer yard holds a very strong hand in this contest with the likely favourite and stable elect, DIPLOMATIC, as well as the three-year old, LORD TRAFALGAR. The former has come right back to form in recent outings and put up a very creditable last c & d effort, despite racing wide throughout. He fought on courageously on that occasion and should stake another serious claim today.

Race 9: SOLAR STAR(7)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

SOLAR STAR was impressive when he quickened smartly to win his debut under Karl Neisius over six furlongs in July. He then needed his comeback run and built on that when he ran on steadily for 4th in a strong field, again over six furlongs, last time out. The son of Kahal has lots of ability and is re-acquainted with Neisius today. He has his third run after a four month break and his pedigree suggests that he will relish the mile. He jumps from a midfield draw and should go very close here.

Race 3: SHINGWEDZI(11) (Each Way)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

SHINGWEDZI built on her moderate debut when she got going late to finish just out of the placings over a mile on this course, three weeks ago. The daughter of Trippi has lots of room for improvement and the drop in trip may not be the worst thing in the world. She has been slightly slow into both her starts but her rivals are sure to go even faster over this trip and she should be running on nicely at the finish.
