TOP BET
Race 3: LE CLAIRE(8)
Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: Greg ENNION

The collateral formlines point heavily in favour of the top selection LE CLAIRE from the Ennion yard. This lightly raced daughter of Royal Air Force showed smart improvement when she ran on strongly for a close 2nd over this c & d, second time out. She had the well-tried EMERALD GAL just a head behind her that day but has much more scope for improvement and her in-form jockey retains the ride.

Race 4: STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH(4)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Glen PULLER

STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH was a tad disappointing when weakening late in a mile contest recently but today’s slightly shorter trip will suit the bay gelding perfectly. It comes as little surprise that top jockey Domeyer retains the ride and the pair should go close from a good draw.

Race 5: AZARENKA(2)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The bay mare AZARENKA has only moderate recent form but she has been facing considerably stronger opposition and she continues to drop in the merit ratings. The formline of her last outing could be worth following and the Justin Snaith inmate may have finished closer on that occasion. She is suited by this minimum trip and can make amends in this open affair.

Race 6: CARDINAL CALL(2)

Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

CARDINAL CALL has the best credentials and he accounted for more than half this field on the c & d run behind Kingston Passage on 14/02. He ran on smartly for 2nd behind the highly regarded victor despite a slow start and being distressed. The six-week break would have served him well and the four-year-old will relish the likely blistering pace.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: KATIES JAY(6)

Jockey: Anthony ANDREWS – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The day’s topliner is a competitive affair which may be run at a false pace and an upset is likely. KATIES JAY hasn’t won for almost a year but she has a decent turn of foot and could represent good each/way value. The Snaith inmate wasn’t disgraced at a higher level over ten furlongs on Met Day and races fresh after a nine-week break. The mile is up her alley as she showed when going down narrowly on this track in her penultimate outing at a similar level. She is 2kgs better off with MISS MARKER for a 1.25 length c & d defeat suffered earlier this campaign.
