VALUE BET – CHARMING DIAMOND

TOP BET – JUST BECAUSE

Racing this Saturday sees an entertaining twelve race programme at Kranji Racecourse with a host of top-quality racing on offer, the top bet and value bet, should be followed closely.

RACE 1 – Time: 06:00 Class 5 Handicap -1200m

Selections: 1/3/2

CHARMING DIAMOND returns to Class 5 where he was last victorious back in April. Better suited to the turf and can be dangerous here. DEN OF THIEVES gets the services of Manoel Nunes and the addition of blinkers. Has trialled nicely in preparation for this. Watch any betting moves. HIGH WATER drawn in the carpark but can muster good speed from there and gets the claim of Jerlyn Seow Poh Hui which brings him into calculations.

RACE 2 – Time: 06:30 Restricted Maiden- 1400m

Selections: 2/3/4

NORTHERN STAR from the J Ong yard ran on strongly over this distance last month. The 3-year-old grey gelding will strip fitter today and must have a say. The ultra-consistent DRAGON TYCOON is seldom far off and should be right there. The lightly raced BINGO MASTER from the J Tan stable showed improvement in his last start and still has plenty of scope.

RACE 3 – Time: 07:00 Class 4 Handicap- 1200m

Selections: 1/2/5

HAPPY MOMENT On the quick back-up and Oscar Chavez jumps back in the saddle. Has drawn the inside gate and looking for his fourth win in as many starts. WATER ROCKET will have to be positive from a wide barrier but does his best racing in this grade and over this course. OUR PINNACLE has been racing around this distance and grade for some time and hasn’t been too far away from the winners. Needs luck from a wide draw.

RACE 4 – Time: 07:30 Class 5 Handicap -2000m

Selections: 9/7/4

FOOTSTEPSONTHECAR has been placed last two starts over this distance and looks to have found an ideal race to go one better here. Should be in the forward half of the field and looks a big threat. PISCA PISCA Manoel Nunes jumps back on and the distance shouldn’t worry her coming from a stable that prides themselves on producing stayers. SUNDAY winner of his last two and drops one kilo from that last victory. Has drawn out in 18 and will need some luck from the jump.

RACE 5 – Time: 08:00 Class 4 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 8/11/6

JUST BECAUSE impressive winner on debut last start. Danny Beasley stays on, and most find it hard jumping in grade and winning again, but he can prove that wrong in this field. SESON was well supported when winning last start in Class 5 and ran good time in that event. He drops 7kgs and must be respected. KING ARTHUR suited by the switch back to the Polytrack and gets our leading jockey for the leading trainer. Watch betting.

RACE 6 – Time: 08:30 Class 5 Handicap -1200m

Selections: 1/4/5

LIM’S HOPEFULLY coming out of an okay trial, wasn’t asked for much in final stages. Respect yard and owners, great strike rate of late. SILENT FORCE despite multiple runs over this distance for only one win, this son of Oasis Dream has notched up a few placings. For that reason, as well as a lot of these horses looking for more ground, he must have a say here. BEAT THE LIGHT finished in behind Silent Force recently. Has been through a few yards but has been far from disgraced his last two starts.

RACE 7 – Time: 09:00 Class 5 Handicap -1000m

Selections: 3/2/4

WAWASAN looks to be the horse that will appreciate the drop to five furlongs the most. Never missed a placing in four attempts and has already won over the distance. BIZAR WINS last-start winner and will be up on speed making his own luck. Toughed it out to hold off challengers, the victory had some merit. LOVING BABE probably the consistent horse of the field. Has had a couple great runs of late with no success, looks a major player here.

RACE 8 – Time: 09:30 Kranji Stakes B -1600m

Selections: 8/5/3

RED OCEAN progressive horse who beat his rivals out of sight last time out. Rising in class and will find this harder but gives every indication he can shine again. SPECIAL OPS super impressive at his last win in Class 3, 1400m two weeks ago. Tackles similar contest and will be again among the main contenders, especially with the two-kilo claim from leading apprentice jockey Hakim Kamaruddin for a rare pairing with Jason Ong. PENNYWISE running well without winning. Long-time almost two years since he won the Group 3 Colonial Chief Stakes (1600m). Clearly a Polytracker but has run creditably at some of his turf races. Include in all bets.

RACE 9 – Time: 10:00 Class 4 Handicap -1400m

Selections: 1/4/2

STRONG N SMART scored a pulsating win last time out. Looked a forlorn hope at the top of the straight when last and behind a wall of horses but quickened up when produced for his run. Can strike again. ALL WE KNOW beaten fair and square by a superior horse in Red Ocean last start. Commands respect again. STREET CRY SUCCESS always thereabouts, but outermost alley will make things tough. Should still make his presence felt when the whips are cracking.

Race 10 – Time: 10:30 Merlion Trophy Group 3 –1200m

Selections: 2/6/10

KHARISMA seldom runs a bad race. Showed his big heart in his last-start narrow win. Reverts to Polytrack which he mastered early doors at the first five of his nine wins. Drawn awkwardly, but if he can get cover in transit, he will take some beating in the straight. GOLD STAR luckless at his last start when he couldn’t get a run to still finish 2.5L off Kharisma. Won’t surprise if he makes amends here. STARLIGHT Group 2 Singapore 3YO Classic winner taking a leap in class in open company. On paper, he faces a tough ask at level weights but he’s on the way up and won’t be disgraced. Low draw is a big help.

Race 11 – Time: 11:00 Class 3 Handicap-1200m

Selections: 6/3/2

MOONGATE STAR from the Desmond Koh is in good form. The 5-year-old bay gelding enjoys the sprints and should be right there. The ultra-consistent SACRED GIFT is seldom far off, and the Mark Walker trained 6-year old gelding must have a say here. HEARTENING FLYER returns from a long break. The son of Excelebration drops in trip and has some fair recent form. He could enjoy racing fresh.
