Kranji: Best Bets & Tips – 22 May 2021

2019.09.05 HWBLOG Kranji 1

Racing this Saturday sees an entertaining eleven race programme at Kranji Racecourse with a host of top quality racing on offer, the top bet and value bet, should be followed closely.

Singapore (Kranji ) 21 May 2021

VALUE BET – TANGIBLE

TOP BET – LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO

PA:

1,4,11/2,3,7/3,4,5/2,4/2,6/7/1,4

R216.

RACE 1 – Time: 06:00 Class 5 Handicap -1200m

Selections: 1/2/6

BOY NEXT DOOR his best races have been over 1600m, but he has a solid record over this distance as well. The son of Showcasing must have a say here. GOLDEN DASH from the Ricardo Le Grange yard hasn’t been beaten far in his last few starts and gets his chance in a field like this. COMING FAST has worked his way down the ratings and ran a prominent second behind Malibu Beach. This is his class and he should be right there.

RACE 2 – Time: 06:30 Class 5 Handicap- 1200m

Selections: 3/7/6

MAXIMILIAN he doesn’t win too often but his form in Class 5 has been consistent. Knocking on the door and can win one soon. ATLANTEAN hasn’t won for over a year but recent runs have been encouraging. He’s drawn well here and should be right there. CLARTON SUPREME his form on turf is better than the Polytrack but he has run solid races on both. Going off two starts ago can figure prominently here.

RACE 3 – Time: 07:00 Class 4 Handicap- 1200m

Selections: 1/4/11

BUURAQ from the J Lim yard is a two-time winner who remains in Class 4 and similar conditions suit him here. VULCAN needed his last run and will strip fitter today. He is a sprint type of horse who needs a genuine run race to do his best work late. PERFECT his last win came in Class 5 but with a lightweight of 51kgs, he could feature and he has a good turf record.

RACE 4 – Time: 07:30  Class 4 Handicap -1400m

Selections: 1/5/3

HEAVENLY DANCER ignore his last couple of runs where he was slow away and that proved costly. Showed vast improvement with blinkers on at barrier trials. Can make amends in a big way here especially from barrier one. THE EXECUTIONER he runs like he’s looking for 1400m. First test on turf. Blinkers off. Coming to hand and should be one of the leading hopes in this. STREET CRY SUCCESS upstaged more fancied stablemate Mystery Power in a similar race but on the Long Course a fortnight ago. He steps on the Short Course this time, but he should still make his presence felt here.

RACE 5 – Time: 08:00 Novice – 1200m

Selections: 4/11/1

ELLIOT NESS from the Mark Walker yard broke a course record winning his last start. Progressive horse and can win again even if he is drawn wide here. EVEREST won his first start well at decent odds. He will only improve from that and looks a big player in this. TRIPLE BOWL’s last few runs have been good. Drawn wide, but he can get back to his best if he reproduces his last start, he can be competitive here.

RACE 6 – Time: 08:30 Class 4 Handicap -1700m

Selections: 3/2/7

TANGIBLE flew home for third on his third local start. The longer the better. Can definitely test the favourite here. SATURNO SPRING hard to get past following his impressive win last time out. Seems to have made further headway. Versatile sort who will be in the firing line. GOLD REWARD this course and distance will be more up his alley. On last run, won’t surprise if he threatens at the business end.

RACE 7 – Time: 09:00 Class 4 Handicap -1200m

Selections: 3/4/5

LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO impressive three-year-old who has won his first two starts in great fashion. Will take a power of beating again. FIRST CHOICE a speedy sort who can begin well and give himself every chance, although wide draw doesn’t help his cause. BEER GARDEN his Class 4 form has been solid for a race like this. If he begins well and has a good run can feature here.

RACE 8 – Time: 09:30 Kranji Stakes -1200m

Selections: 2/4/7

MR MALEK changed stables and has overcome leg issues before being brought back to work. Super trial second to Rocket Star last week. Looks fit enough to resume. Cheekpieces off. May need the run, but can still sneak into the minors on class. KHARISMA from the Stephen Gray yard lost no marks in the Lion City Cup. This is easier. Expect to see him bounce back here. CHURCHILL he was being prepped up for the Kranji Mile. Falls back on this 1200m race instead and should be super competitive in this.

RACE 9 – Time: 10:00 Class 4 Handicap -1400m

Selections: 2/6/3

THE MARKSMAN looked a winner in his last outing but Irish debutant Mystery Power was too good. He will relish extra 200m. Commands plenty of respect here. GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT needed his last start but still made ground late for sixth, not far off winner Universal Empire. He will strip fitter today. Improvement on the cards. ASGARD MASSIF sprang a surprise thanks to an enterprising ride from Wong Chin Chuen last start. Visor seems to have done the trick on him. Should be thereabouts again, though the wide draw doesn’t help.

Race 10 – Time: 10:30 Kranji Mile Group 1 –1600m

Selections: 7/10/3

BIG HEARTED had two ideal prep runs, winning the last one over 1400m, albeit he had to dig down deep to win. The mile will suit him better. He’s drawn well and is the horse to beat. ROCKET STAR one of the most progressive horses in the line-up, if not the most. Top run in the Lion City Cup when an eye-catching second to Lim’s Lightning. This is the race he has been aimed at. SACRED CROIX kudos to champion trainer Mark Walker for reigniting the winning flair into the 6-year-old bay gelding. Latest progression has been nothing short of spectacular. Faces stiffer task at level weights at elite level, but he is going so well that he cannot be ignored.

Race 11 – Time: 11:00 Class 3 Handicap-1400m

Selections: 4/1/9

GOLD STAR looked home until Tiger Roar gunned him down on the line. If he reproduces that run here, he should go close. SUN FORTRESS an Australian four-time winner (1350m to 1500m) who looks to have settled in well. He was even entered in the Kranji Mile but just missed the cut. Trials have been fair. SAVVY COMMAND a better barrier saw him return to winning ways last time out. Looks to have trained on. Back up in Class 3 but on best form, he can run into the money.
