Racing this Saturday sees an entertaining twelve race programme at Kranji Racecourse with a host of top-quality racing on offer, the top bet and value bet, should be followed closely.
RACE 1 – Time: 06:00 Class 5 Handicap -1200m
Selections: 1/9/5
CAPTAIN SINGAPORE ran extremely well after dropping to this grade last start and this looks to be right up his alley. Wide draw makes it a challenge. LIM’S WISH only lightly raced and the stable places their runners well. All his best runs have come over this trip. PER INCROWN meets a weak division this week. His lone win came over 1600m, but he has run some nice races in these conditions. Drawn well here.
RACE 2 – Time: 06:30 Class 5 Handicap – 1000m

PINDUS loves racing over this distance and although it’s been a while since he won, his last few starts have shown that
the next win is not far away. His good draw helps a lot. QAIDOOM was very impressive winning her maiden on debut. From a leading stable and can go back-to-back in this race. Needs to jump well from out wide. MISTER DYNAMO solid Class 5 performer. Stable going very well this season and must be respected in this grade.
RACE 3 – Time: 07:00 Class 4 Handicap – 1000m

HAMAMA impressive local debut winner when she came from a wide barrier to find the lead, and she will strip even fitter for this and has drawn better in barrier four. Big chance. HAPPY MOMENT sprang a surprise in his comeback run when winning last Sunday. On the quick back-up. Second run syndrome is a worry but on current form, he can still have a say in this. Low draw is also a bonus. SNIP old warrior who still has some juice left. Working well and won’t surprise if he finishes in the money.
RACE 4 – Time: 07:30 Open Maiden -1100m

REIGNITE trialled well last week in preparation for this event. Has some nice form in maiden races and should shed his maiden tag. LIM’S DENALI speedy mare who hasn’t had a lot of luck in her career. Willing to give her a good chance here. Watch for betting support. BIG TIGER only placed on one occasion and his run last start behind the impressive Illustrious was enough to make him a player in this.
RACE 5 – Time: 08:00 Class 4 Handicap – 1600m
Selections: 2/4/1
LEATHERHEAD the course record holder for 1600m on the surface and conditions suit him very well here. Big run expected. CARIBBEAN LADY a mare in a rich vein of form at present and is now up five points for her victory last time. Her course and distance form is good and she can run well again. AXEL last win was over this track and distance back in April and is now back on that last winning handicap mark as well. Will go close.
RACE 6 – Time: 08:30 Class 5 Handicap -1200m

NEW GARDEN only a one-time winner here in Singapore but lately his form has been okay for a contest like this. Could be the surprise runner. LEGGENDA broke his maiden recently and has a rating to keep him in this grade. Stable going well and could be met with betting support. COMING FAST his form doesn’t read great on first glance but he hasn’t been too far away from the action in his last few starts.
RACE 7 – Time: 09:00 Class 4 Handicap -1200m

CHARGER continues to run good races in defeat and is only three points higher than his last win over this course and distance. The return to Polytrack can be what’s required, and he can go very close here. ROCKETSHIP didn’t beat a great deal when winning last time but could only win. She is progressive and an opening mark of 54 looks fair. MR HOOPER Oscar Chavez is back on board here and he has gone well for the Panamanian jockey. Three points lower now since a good run behind Longhu in June.
RACE 8 – Time: 09:30 Class 4 Handicap -1600m

STRONG N BEST solid in defeat two weeks ago and is now up a couple of points for that good run. Like the booking of Simon Kok Wei Hoong and should go very close here. YAYA PAPAYA from the L Khoo yard has plenty of form in the book and is racing well now. He must have a say here. KING LOUIS very disappointing last time out when running second last behind Real Efecto. He trialled nicely this Tuesday and hopefully he can put that poor run behind him now.
RACE 9 – Time: 10:00 Class 5 Handicap -1700m

LAKSANA improving sort who is knocking on the door. Seems to handle Polytrack better. Blinkers-pacifiers on. Ready to open account. QIJI AUSTON ridden more positive with visors on last start. Major threat if he can have his way upfront again. Include in all bets. ZOFFSPEED in-and-out performer. Never won beyond 1600m but he can run out a strong 1700m. Looks well on the training tracks.
Race 10 – Time: 10:30 Class 2 Handicap-1200m

PENNYWISE with the stablemate Katak surely going to be all the rage on his local debut, a chance is taken with Pennywise from the same stable. A Group 3 winner at his peak, he ran a super race to only just be touched off last time out over the mile. The drop back in trip is no issue and the lightweight will help too. KATAK one of the most exciting horses to come to Singapore in many years. Unbeaten in five in his native South Africa, he is the winner of the ‘Winter Series’ last year when landing a trio of Grade 3 races (1600m-2400m). He has impressed in his only trial so far and although this trip would look sharp enough on paper, a good pace will help, and he is of massive interest on his Kranji debut. AUGUSTANO a super run-in defeat last time out. He has a lot of good form in the book and if in the same form here, he can go very close once again with Jerlyn Seow Poh Hui staying on board.
Race 11 – Time: 11:00 Class 4 Handicap -1000m

ELLIOT NESS freshened up after last start in June. Disappointed after breaking 1100m record three runs back. Tongue-tie on. Won’t shock if he bounces back. TEARDROPS rider queried last start when second. Won’t be long before he opens his Kranji account. COUSTEAU quickened up for a nice win last time out. Loves the all-weather. Extra 100m should not pose any problem. Picks up extra 5kgs, though.
Race 12 – Time: 11:30 Class 4 Handicap -1200m

FIRST BOWL currently on a good run. Scored after settling more forward last start. Well in on weights. Big say if he reproduces last start winning form. WILD BEE will run a good honest race if last couple of starts are anything to go by. Each-way claims. INHERIT didn’t quite act in the wet track last start. Will get back from awkward draw and rely on his turn of foot to stake a claim in this.
