Trainer Comments:
Sean Tarry: “He is a staying type who can lead over 2000m. He has put up pleasing gallops, the reports from the jockeys have been very good and he is looking good.”
Jockey Comments:
Big race rider Raymond Danielson has the appetite for the Grade 1’s as was evident in his Summer Cup ride aboard Liege and he said the following, “I would have loved him to have had one more run but he is very well at the moment and trainer Sean Tarry knows how to get them ready for the big races. At the moment it looks like there is no pace in the race but it is the July and jockey’s like to try and get into a good spot so I’m sure the first 200m will be quick and then I don’t think there will be much pace after that! This year the race looks very open but if I had to pick one it would most definitely be African Night Sky, I really liked the way he quickened from way back in his last win.”
Winning Form – Magic Tips Comment:
This entrant from champion trainer Tarry’s yard was tuned to the minute when he enjoyed his finest triumph in the Grade 1 Summer Cup on the Highveld but his preparations for this event have been staggered. That said, he certainly needed his poor comeback run over shorter and though he has a wide draw, he will be fitter and he reunites with his big race rider who has an appetite for the majors. The son of Dynasty has a stiff task from his barrier position but he can quicken and is capable of earning a minor cheque.
Verdict: Summer Cup winner, badly needed comeback run, interrupted prep.
Hollywoodbets Comments:
Raymond Danielson was the jockey on Liege when he won the Sansui Summer Cup in November 2017.
