Race 4

This looks to be a tricky race to start off the day’s Jackpot and some caution is suggested. However, two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to the race and complete the exacta, with the narrow first choice going to CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN who showed marked improvement to finish second last time out over 1300M, a length and a half behind the winner. She was making good late progress that day and if she has continued down that same path, she could find herself in the winner’s box. Her handy draw two will do her no harm.

BEYOND REPROACH has finished third in her last two outings, the latest over this c&d, just under a half-length back from the victor. She jumped awkwardly and then dashed into the lead as the field entered the home straight that day, only to be run out of it close to home. She has gate four and should ensure that the top pick remains honest.

TEELING had finished a close up second in his two runs prior to ending up in third place last time out over 1100M, 7.6L adrift of the winner. He has his peak run here after returning from a 13-week rest, as well as his first start for his new trainer. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself in this line-up.

Race 5

HILFLAGER had his consistency rewarded with a one and a half-length win last time out over five furlongs. He went from jump to wire that day to claim the victory and given that he will have to overcome a wide draw thirteen, he is likely to use that early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

STARSONIC on the other hand has cracked pole position. He had finished second in his two outings before finishing sixth in his latest start over 1100M, 4.3L behind the winner and was immediately moved to a new yard. If he has adopted to his new environment and with having 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he should be right up there in the mix.

TRACKMAN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1500M with a tenth spot finish next time out over the same c&d, just over nine lengths off the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of the contest subsequently winning. He returns from a 21-week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial so his fitness will have to be taken on trust and he will also have to negotiate a wide draw fifteen, but with a bit of luck in running, he should not be lightly overlooked in this field.

Race 6

Today’s best bet, STAR OF O’REILLY has his hat-trick run after wins over five furlongs and the latest over six furlongs, winning a half-length. He has his peak run after returning from a 17-week rest and a change of conditioner. If he has settled into his new surroundings and from a cozy draw four, he could prove difficult to topple.

His biggest danger may be his stable companion ALL STAR ROCKET, who is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and is drawn one outside him. She had finished second in her last two runs prior to ending up in sixth place in her last outing over five furlongs, just over three and a half lengths back from the winner. She is a speedy sort who may prove difficult to peg back over the closing stages of the race. Although

LIEUTENANT is recorded as finishing fourth in his last start over five furlongs, he was just two lengths back from the winner. He is drawn one outside the latter and will get 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. He should be involved in the finish here.

Race 7

GOLDIE’S ARCHER is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she is seldom far off the action and went from gun to tape to win her last start over five furlongs by nearly half a length. She will have to negotiate gate thirteen, but on the plus side, she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back for the services of her claiming apprentice. She should give the boys a good run for their money and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s program.

SEQUABLUR has finished third in his last three runs, the latest over six furlongs, two lengths off the victor. He has drawn gate eleven, but has his peak run after returning from a 33-week absence and should be right up there in the firing line.

OYASHIO stayed on well when finishing fifth over this c&d last time out, 3.3L behind the winner. He has a kinder draw six and should be included in all bets.
