Race 4

REMORSELESS is a speedy sort who held on well to win his last start over six furlongs by a head. He was immediately rested for 34 weeks, during which time he was gelded and moved to a new stable. He returns here having won both of his barrier trials to showcase his well-being and from his handy draw four, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

GOOFY MICK has won two of his last three runs, the latest over five furlongs by 0.8L despite over racing in the early stages. He then hit the front at the 225M mark and stayed on well to hold off all the late challengers. He jumps from gate seven and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

PATAGONIAN was hampered at the start before making good late progress to show solid improvement in his latest outing over 900M, ending up in second spot, one and a half lengths back from the winner. From gate three, the gelding should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

BIG HAPPINESS won his maiden race last time out over five furlongs by almost three lengths when returning from a 15-week rest. He strode clear of the field at the 200M pole that day and was geared down in the run through to the finishing post. He gets gate three and could be the one that they all have to beat.

SWORDSMAN has finished second in both of his runs since returning from a 33-week break, the latest over five furlongs, 0.7L back from the winner. He jumped awkwardly losing three lengths at the start that day but recovered well to finish off his race strongly. He gets gate five and should turn in another honest performance today.

MIRROR MODEL is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she overraced early and then moved up four-wide approaching the home turn before ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, just a neck behind the winner. She has her first run for her new trainer and if fully acclimatized in her new environment, she should give the males a good run for their money.

Race 6

RANGES followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a sixth-place finish next time out over 1250M, 3.2L behind the winner. He had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 800M pole and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so he did well to finish as close to the winner as he did. He will have to deal with gate ten but is nevertheless made the value bet on the program.

NITRIDE had his consistency rewarded with a 0.6L victory last time out over 1280M. He came four-wide into the home straight that day, but still battled all the way down to the finishing post to record his fifth career win. He has a kinder draw three and should keep the top choice honest.

PATRICK MAY is drawn one inside the latter and has won two of his last three runs, the latest a neck victory over six furlongs. He raced up with the pace that day, taking over the lead as the field entered the straight and then holding off all the late challengers over the latter stages. He should be included in all bets.

Race 7

ONE STAR SHINING finished strongly to get up in the shadow of the post to win his last start over 1315M by a short-head and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has drawn one from the outside in gate ten, but he could prove good enough to post a quick double here.

A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could chase him home with the slight preference going to CHARLTON PARK who tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in second spot last time out over seven furlongs, a head back from the winner. She jumps from gate seven and should be right up there in the firing line.

CONFESSED is drawn one inside the latter and was in last place turning for home, but finished off her race well to end up third over six furlongs, 3.9L behind the victor. She was returning from a 22-week absence that day and should not be easily overlooked in this field.
