LINGFIELD PARK
Race 2 No7 BILLHILLY
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Jamie Spencer
Lightly raced and with few miles on the clock, BILLHILLY can back up his snug success on debut for this trainer at Nottingham. That triumph indicates he has turned the corner, and now he needs to consolidate.
Race 7 No4 SURREY GOLD (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Probert
In a 4ace that will surely be tactical, Golden Horn colt SURREY GOLD can outmanoeuvre his three foes. He had to dig deep to open his account when last seen at Wolverhampton before Christmas, but the narrowness of the win means he’s not been punished for this first run in a handicap.
MUSSELBURGH
Race 7 No4 MUTAMADED (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan
On a very difficult card MUTAMADED stands out as one to be on, and should prove worth waiting for. In three starts this season he’s edged towards what will hopefully be his first success of the campaign.
REDCAR
Race 3 No3 CLEVELEYS
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Tom Eaves
This is a weak race and CLEVELEYS can be the one to cash in. He has a home advantage after troubling the judge in back-to-back visits to this course last year. That form makes him very much the one to beat.
Race 4 No1 COSMOS RAJ
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: S Kirrane
As long as this doesn’t come too quick, COSMOS RAJ should follow-up his win at Wetherby on Monday. The Iffraaj gelding appreciated the step up to a mile that day and has strong claims to defy a 6lb penalty.
Race 7 No6 GREYSTOKE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass
While it took GREYSTOKE a while to get off the mark, he did it stylishly under this capable apprentice at Wolverhampton and can now transfer that form level to turf. He’s been in great form since his win, suggesting it has significantly bolstered his confidence level.
CHELMSFORD CITY
Race 1 No8 TIPPY TOES (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Ryan Moore
Moore is an eye taking booking for TIPPY TOES, a daughter of Havana Gold that finished second on debut at Beverley and is sure to have gained street wisdom from the run. As the only one in the field with previous racecourse experience she has to be taken very seriously.
Race 3 No7 SUZI’S CONNOISSEUR (Each Way)
SUZI’S CONNOISSEUR rarely leaves this track with taking a cheque with him, as evidenced from a sequence of placed efforts on her last four starts. Although getting longer in the tooth, the selection can put in another earning run to advertise his well being.
Race 5 No5 SATONO JAPAN
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore
Deep Impact colt SATONO JAPAN is a horse we haven’t seen the best of. He’s been a rare visitor to the course since delivering on his Kempton debut, but placed in a Listed contest when last seen last November. He has worked with some decent yardsticks from Freemason Lodge and can show with a comeback triumph that he’s much more the complete article now.
Race 7 No8 NELL QUICKLY
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Hollie Doyle
Having taken home a cheque on both career starts, NELL QUICKLY has good claims to open her account with an eye taking jockey booking. By The Gurkha out of a Cape Cross mare, she should benefit considerably for this step up to a mile and a quarter.
SOUTHWELL
Race 5 No3 CHARLIE D
Trainer: Tom Dascombe – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
CHARLIE D was out of his depth when finishing in rear at Newbury but should enjoy this return to the all-weather, having finished second on his only other start this season at Newcastle.
Race 7 No14 KOMMANDER KIRKUP
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Joanna Mason
KOMMANDER KIRKUP lacks consistency but has the rail draw to help after showing a glimmer of his old form when troubling the judge here last time. His stable has been amongst the winners and he can outperform his starting price with an earning run.
