BATH

Race 2 No8 TWILIGHT SECRET (Nap)

Trainer: James Tate – Jockey: Luke Morris

TWILIGHT SECRET is very much the one to beat in this novice after showing abundant potential in both career starts so far. He chased home a future Group 1 horse in Dragon Symbol on debut at Wolverhampton in the spring, and his defeat by Fernando Rah at the same course was boosted when the winner went on to score in handicap company.

Race 4 No1 CELTIC ART (Each Way)

Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Luke Morris

Though unable to endorse the promise shown in his juvenile season, CELTIC ART remains a horse that should not be written off. His two outings this year have been underwhelming, but he’s been eased in grade into a Class 3 and if anywhere near as good as he was would take care of his foes, the best of whom looks to be Anmaat.

BRIGHTON

Race 3 No3 SELECTO (Nap)

Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

t in a best run to date for his trainer when second at Epsom last week in a race he might have been unlucky not to win. The Paco Boy gelding was done no favours being leaned into in the closing stages and is primed to go one better, though he needs to show he can handle the track.

Race 4 No1 SEAGULLS NEST

Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert

Camelot filly SEAGULLS NEST has been expensive to follow but her trainer might have at last found a suitable opening for her. She responded well to cheek pieces to place at Windsor last time, and even though the headgear is now removed, still appeals as the one to beat under top weight.

PONTEFRACT

Race 2 No2 DR YOUMZAIN (Nap)

Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Ben Curtis

DR YOUMZAIN raised his game to finish in the money on a first run on sand. Returned to turf and from a plum draw, the Dark Angel colt can get the better of Skittlebombz, who breaks from the outer in a field of 16, and will have work to do.

Race 7 No11 ROUND THE ISLAND (Each Way)

Trainer: Simon Whitaker – Jockey: Phil Dennis

Making a quick return to the track after a midfield finish at Carsilenon Monday, ROUND THE ISLAND can add to his excellent record here. Six of his nine career triumphs have happened here, and he’s on a mark to put in another big earning run.

YARMOUTH

Race 1 No4 KNOCKABOUT QUEEN (Nap)

Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Tom Queally

KNOCKABOUT QUEEN showed with a near miss over course and distance three weeks ago that she’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle. She hasn’t won on turf for almost two years, but looks to have been found a very good opportunity.

Race 6 No6 CHESHIRE PLAIN

Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey:Gavin Ashton

Invincible Spirit filly CHESHIRE PLAIN seeks a swift follow-up to her Lingfield success last week and should prove very hard to beat under a 6lb penalty. She has the same apprentice on her back that guided her to that clear cut triumph, and should have more to offer.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No8 VALIANT PRINCE

Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

VALIANT PRINCE has a good draw on the rail from which to assert in this interesting novice. The Dubawi colt has attracted support on both outings and didn’t do much wrong chasing home Storm Damage at Newmarket last time.

Race 5 No8 PENNYMOOR (Nap)

Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: James Doyle

Frankel filly PENNYMOOR is very much a pea out of the same pod as Valiant Prince and can open her account for the same connections. She put in a solid effort against Wahraan at Pontefract and has trained well on Polytrack subsequently.

Race 6 No3 CHAI YO POWER

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa

The strong pulling CHAI YO POWER has found plenty at the finish of his last two races and could be in line to complete a fine hat-trick under a jockey who knows how to get the best out of him. The fact that he’s won by narrow margins means he’s not been dealt too hard a blow by the assessor.
