LEICESTER

Race 1 No8 MARSH WREN (Each Way)
Trainer: Stuart Edmunds – Jockey: Ciaran Gethings

MARSH WREN posted a 28-1 shocker on her debut at Southwell back in March, but there seemed no fluke about her clear-cut triumph in that bumper. She finds herself in what looks a warm contest for her return to the fray, but is open to any amount of improvement and can get into the money.

Race 3 No3 MONARCHOFTHEGRANGE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Now at the bottom tier of the class ladder, MONARCHOFTHEGRANGE will never get a better chance to open his account. The hooded six-year-old troubled the judge in non-selling company at a Grade 1 track on his seasonal reappearance, and should now be fitter and more focussed.

PLUMPTON

Race 1 No2 DINO VELVET
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Adrian Heskin

Annual Invictus is carded to start an odds-on shot in this match, but it might be worth taking him on with DINO VELVET. The favourite brings very good winning form to the table, but the handicap chase form of my selection is pretty solid in its own right, while if it develops into a sprint in the short home straight he could prove the stronger.

Race 4 No2 ONLY MONEY (Nap)
Trainer: Chris Gordon – Jockey: Tom Cannon

ONLY MONEY took well to fences in the spring, opening his account with a wide margin triumph at Huntingdon. The seven-year-old has the scope to make further progress now in handicaps and should prove hard to stop.

Race 5 No6 MR YEATS
Trainer: Milton Harris – Jockey: James Best

From a stable that posted a winner at Cheltenham over the weekend, MR YEATS can show he’s still ahead of the assessor for this bid to complete a hat-trick. The four-year-old landed some good bets and looked value for his Huntingdon success last week, and can shrug aside a penalty in a ‘smash and grab’ venture before he is reassessed.
