CHEPSTOW

Race 4 No2 FARNE (Nap)
Trainer: Noel Williams – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

Stowaway mare FARNE shaped encouragingly on her belated first outing of the campaign when third to the progressive THE GLANCING QUEEN at Warwick. She’s got the scope to progress in leaps and bounds from that first run over fences, and can stave off the challenges of recent scorers Frenchy Du Large and Eden Du Houx.

Race 7 No1 BREIZH ALKO
Trainer: Martin Keighley – Jockey: Sean Bowen

Fences didn’t seem to agree with BREIZH ALKO on his return to the track and debut for Keighley, but the spin off was a 5lb drop in the rating for this switch back to hurdles. He’s up against a bunch of mainly out of form foes, and should be right in the mix.

Race 8 No7 SHUTTHEGATE
Trainer: John Spearing – Jockey: Jamie Moore

Veteran handler Spearing has a strong contender for the nightcap with SHUTTHEGATE. The Milan gelding could hardly have been more impressive when leaving previous form miles behind on his seasonal return at Warwick. He now has to show that was no fluke, and I think he can.

FAKENHAM

Race 3 No2 FLOWING CADENZA
Trainer: Bob Buckler – Jockey: Sean Houlihan

Although her form has been uninspiring so far this season, FLOWING CADENZA can raise her game at a track that perfectly suits her style of racing. She would hold solid claims if able to repeat her good run when second to Eurowork at Exeter in December, but a subsequent blip at the same track needs to be forgiven.

Race 4 No1 KILBREW BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: Mr Charlie Case

Front runner KILBREW BOY could enjoy an uncontested lead in this long distance handicap hurdle. From a stable amongst the winners, he’s taken home a cheque in back-to-back outings under his trainer’s son, who knows him well. He has solid claims to post a first victory in more than a year.

Race 5 No5 THE VOLLAN
Trainer: Linda Morgan – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

THE VOLLAN has taken home a cheque on both outings since joining his trainer. He seems best on a tight track, and can make this a success on his first visit to the Norfolk course.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 6 No6 GRAND ALLIANCE
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Callum Shepherd

Churchill colt GRAND ALLIANCE troubled the judge as one of the roughies on his debut here before Christmas. He’s going to be more knowledgeable for that initial foray to the track, and has a good chance to open his account.

Race 7 No1 ALMUFEED (Nap)
Trainer: Sean Curran – Jockey: Grace McEntee

ALMUFEED destroyed his rivals from the front when the subject of a notable late gamble over course and distance last week. There’s no wonder his trainer wants to strike again while the iron’s hot, and he can defy a 7lb weights rise.
