PONTEFRACT

Race 4 No9 URBAN ARTIST (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Tom Marquand

URBAN ARTIST is one to get excited about in the featured Pontefract Castle Stakes, a Listed race for distaffers. Her claims have been boosted by the success of Quickthorn at Royal Ascot on Friday, as she beat that stablemate in a gallop last week. She rattled off a fine hat-trick last summer and proved she had progressed when second in a Group 3 on reappearance at York, showing how much she enjoys getting her feet into the ground.

Race 5 No9 SEAGULLS NEST
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

A big step up the distance ladder can help SEAGULLS NEST open her account in this two and a quarter-mile handicap. The daughter of Camelot was made to look very one-paced by the unexposed Summer’s Knight at Doncaster but promises to enjoy this return to meeting older rivals, where Neverbeen To Paris is also recommended for all exotics.

Race 6 No2 LAW OF ONE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

The lightly-raced LAW OF ONE impressed on his first run back with a clear cut success at Doncaster and wasn’t disgraced against a rejuvenated Torcello at Newmarket. On only a seventh career start and on his favoured easy terrain he can take the spoils in a cracking contest against recent winners Furzig, Cormier and He’s A Keeper.

HEXHAM

Race 2 No4 MING DYNASTY
Trainer: Brian Ellison – Jockey: Brian Hughes

MING DYNASTY won a Group 2 at Chantilly and has been on a rollercoaster in subsequent spells with three different trainer’s. Since joining Brian Ellison from Ireland he’s chased the shadow of the useful Beyond The Clouds in successive appearances at Sedgefield and Perth. Now fully integrated into his new environment, he can take this beginners’ chase at the main expense of Ash Hill.

Race 3 No2 GORDON’S JET (Nap)
Trainer: Brian Ellison – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

Ellison has another fine chance with GORDON’S JET who always seems to attract support and numbers a Chepstow maiden hurdle success and placed efforts at Sedgefield and Perth on his 2021 CV. Moving into handicaps, the chestnut can gain a deserved success with the addition of a first-time hood.

Race 5 No3 LANTY SLEA (Each Way)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Brian Hughes

The Bomber Liston is going to start at prohibitive odds, leaving the value with LANTY SLEA. In just three starts the six-year-old has landed a Carlisle bumper and latterly finished second to the talented Lesser at Kelso. He’s well regarded and open to further progress.

WORCESTER

Race 5 No8 LOST HISTORY (Nap)
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton

LOST HISTORY landed some good bets on debut for the Skeltons here last month and reappears off an 8lb higher mark. He was taken out of a subsequent race which might have some too soon for the gelding, and his connections’ patience can be further rewarded in this two-mile handicap.

Race 7 No2 YAUTHYM
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

Jumping issues that hindered YAUTHYM were ironed out when she broke her maiden over course and distance just over five weeks ago. The success should have raised the mare’s confidence levels as she bids to follow up under a penalty.

Race 8 No6 JOBESGREEN LAD
Trainer: Tom George – Jockey: Jonathan Burke

After several near misses, JOBESGREEN LAD is a winner waiting to happen, especially in consideration of his best run when chasing home Rod’s Dream here last month. That should have blown away any cobwebs and make the selection fine-tuned to get the better of Ranco, who underperformed last time and could prove troublesome.
