Neil Morrice: International Racing- Monday 15 February 2021

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Warwick, Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton.

WARWICK

Race 1 No2 LECALE’S ARTICLE (Nap)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

Generally regarded as one of the best novices in the yard, LECALE’S ARTICLE can remain unbeaten in this big field and can endorse the promise of his debut success over hurdles at Newbury before Christmas.

Race 5 No2 MISTER WHITAKER (Each Way)

Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Adrian Heskin

Former Cheltenham Festival winner MISTER WHITAKER ran better than his finishing position suggests on comeback in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby, travelling and jumping well until blowing up over the last couple of fences. He’s in calmer water after a freshening break, and looks overpriced to boot.

Race 7 No8 SHERBORNE

Trainer: Colin Tizzard – Jockey: Harry Cobden

SHERBORNE hails from a stable that’s starting to get his act together in time for the Festival. He shaped with a deal of promise on debut under Rules when second in a Hereford bumper last November, and is ready to build on that.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No4 FANTOMAS (Nap)

Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twuston-Davies

With experience of this course in his favour, FANTOMAS can gain a first career success and tee himself up for a successful second half of the season. He attracted some good bets when runner-up to Socks Off in a similar contest at the start of the month and is thought to have progressed from it.

Race 6 No7 LANTIERN

Trainer: Harry Whittington – Jockey: Alan Doyle

This combination were there to be shot at when trying to go all the way from the front at Kempton last week but managed to stave off everything but shock winner Billy’s Angel who runs in the previous race and could give the form a filip. LANTIERN has taken that race in his stride and can help boost his trainer, whose string are starting to emerge from the doldrums.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1 No4 TRUE HERO (Nap)

Trainer: David Brown – Jockey: Kevin Stott

TRUE HERO benefitted from a return to the minimum trip when powering home at Southwell last week and landing a decent gamble in the process. His connections are understandably keen to strike while the iron’s hot, and he can deliver again.

Race 6 No5 NEW EXCEED

Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Cieren Fallon

It’s not often that Appleby saddles horses out of the Godolphin bubble but NEW EXCEED in one. The daughter of New Approach ran Technique at half a length on debut at this course and with normal improvement should go be better.
