Neil Morrice Best Bets

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Huntingdon, Sedgefield and Lingfield on Tuesday 22 December 2020.

HUNTINGDON

Race
1 No13 POLDARK CROSS (Nap)

Trainer:
Harry Whittington – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan

POLDARK
CROSS finished second on debut for this yard in a Wetherby novice that has worked
out especially well. The winner Fern Hill defied a penalty and the selection
returns from a freshening break. One or two from the yard came back with dirty
noses, but have been given an enforced break ready for the Christmas period.

Race
2 No10 DING DING (Each Way)

Although
90 % of her racing happens at Plumpton, DING DING can show she’s effective on a
right-handed course. It’s the first time in more than four years that she’s
been asked to race this way, but following a pleasing run to chase home an
in-form foe last time the nine-year-old can reward each way support.

Race
6 No13 SPEECH BUBBLE

Trainer:
Noel Williams – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr

SPEECH
BUBBLE landed some good bets in style in deep ground on debut at Ffos Las. Cut
in the ground is essential for her, and while this is a far more taxing
assignment on paper, she can take the scalps of nine other winners in the field
in one of the hottest bumpers run here in recent years.

SEDGEFIELD

Race
2 No1 ALAPHILIPPE (Nap)

Trainer:
Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

ALAPHILIPPE
defends a two race unbeaten record for connections and comes here after missing
out on an abandonment last week. The winning Irish pointer was impressive in
taking out a bumper and a maiden hurdle and should be too good for his rivals under
a penalty.

Race
3 No7 BEET TOPPER

Trainer:
Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

There’s
been money for BEET TOPPER on both outings for his trainer but the support
ended up going west. A first time hood didn’t seem to help at Leicester last
time and is now dispensed with, but this looks an easier task for a horse
that’s getting plenty of weight and has travelled a long way. He’s worth
another chance.

Race
7 No2 FONZERELLI

Trainer:
Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Craig Nichol

These
colours have been carried by some useful jumpers and FONZERELLI can prove a bet
worth waiting for on debut under Rules in the nightcap. She had to dig deep to
score on her only point outing in Ireland but has shown plenty at home since
joining the Dalgleish stable.

Race
4 No1 CAMPEAO (Nap)

Trainer:
David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

Unless
newcomers La Tihaty or Darwell Lion are pretty smart this should be a
straightforward task for CAMPEAO. The Acclamation colt has to also contend with
a tricky draw, but the selection has earned in both all-weather starts and was
backed as if defeat was out of the question only to find Zaajel his master at
Kempton last time. Now he can show the losses to be merely lent.

Race
6 No9 SEA LA ROSA

Trainer:
William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SEA
LA ROSA can take out this novice stakes in the colours of her sire Sea The
Stars. She’s troubled the judge on both career starts at Wolverhampton and is
bred to enjoy the step up to a mile and a quarter for top connections.
