Neil Morrice: International Racing – Monday 5 April 2021

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Chepstow, Plumpton, Redcar, Kempton Park and Wolverhampton.

CHEPSTOW

Race 1 No1 KINGS WALK (Each Way)
Trainer: Colin Tizzard – Jockey: Tom Scudamore

KINGS WALK hasn’t been without his training issues, but after an eye taking comeback run at Fontwell that blew away the cobwebs, is now in a position to turn back the clock and get into the shake-up in this ultra competitive race.

Race 3 No10 LE BATEAU (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: James Bowen

Henderson has some interesting runners at the two jumps fixtures and none more so than LE BATEAU. The Le Havre gelding hasn’t been seen since a stylish delivery on Seven Barrows debut at Ludlow and should appreciate the better ground.

Race 8 No12 PARISIEN BLUE
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: James Bowen

These colours have been carried creditably by Verdana Blue and Vegas Blue and now it’s the turn of PARISIEN BLUE to bring her A-game to the table. She is a promising individual that can take full, advantage of the stone received from penalised Flemenstide.

PLUMPTON

Race 4 No4 PISTOL WHIPPED (Nap)Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

If PISTOL WHIPPED hadn’t run poorly in a valuable handicap chase at Newbury last month he would have been a short favourite for this. On his previous outing at Kempton in January he cruised up but couldn’t get past Smarty Wild. The key is to deliver him late, which is more easily achieved on a sharp track like this with a very short run in.

Race 7 No13 SOARLIKEANEAGLE (Each Way)Trainer: Richard Rowe – Jockey: James Davies

SOARLIKEANEAGLE a put in his best run of the season to chase home Tractor Fred in a chase last time and will not be inconvenienced by switching to hurdles. He has a feather weight, likes the course and should again get into the money.

REDCAR

Race 1 No2 HEADINGLEY (Nap)

Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Ben Curtis

Dawn Approach colt HEADINGLEY should be another for the irrepressible Johnston stable. It’s winners are being fired in all directions, and this smooth Chelmsford winner can follow-up back on grass.

Race 6 No1 SIR OLIVERTrainer: Chris Dwyer – Jockey: Marco Ghiani

In form SIR OLIVER should have a fitness edge on some of his rivals, having quickly delivered for his new trainer at Wolverhampton. He’s gone up in the weights, but is in a good place to consolidate.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 5 No5 LAVENDER’S BLUE (Nap)
Trainer: Amanda Perrett – Jockey: Rab Havlin

Since delivering on debut at Newmarket two years ago, LAVENDER’S BLUE has never left Listed or Pattern company in ten subsequent outings. She was unlucky when beaten into second in the Fleur De Lys Stakes when last seen at Lingfield in the autumn and will surely be the flagship of her trainer’s operation in 2021. The Sea The Stars mare should prove hard to beat on this seasonal reappearance.

Race 6 No4 STARCZEWSKITrainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

The Queen’s Prize can see STARCZEWSKI complete a hat-trick. He’s on the up and up and has the track craft to prevail in what looks sure to develop into a tactical affair.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3 No8 VANITY AFFAIR
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Aled Beech

The hooded VANITY AFFAIR posted his best effort from three when chasing home Father Of Jazz at Chelmsford. He’s getting weight from the majority of his rivals and as the least exposed in the field can run well on handicap debut.

Race 4 No1 LOSTWITHIEL (Nap)
Trainer: George Boughey – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Camelot gelding LOSTWITHIEL needs to have improved from his debut win at Bath last autumn. He surprised connections that day, but has done well through the winter. He can defy a penalty at the main expense of Cadeau D’Or.
