NEWMARKET

Race 3 DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE STAKES (Group 2)

No3 MAWJ (Nap)
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Ray Dawson

MAWJ ran into the very smart Meditate when beaten into second in the Albany at Royal Ascot having previously converted by a wide margin on her debut on the Rowley course. The Exceed And Excel filly now has a great chance of getting back in the winning groove and can stave off the challenges of Queen Olly and Lezoo.

Race 4 No7 SUMMER’S KNIGHT
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

SUMMER’S KNIGHT was beaten only three and a half lengths into fifth behind Trueshan in the Northumberland Plate to show he’s on the cusp of a return to winning ways. The Camelot gelding was a progressive performer with five successes from only eight outings last year, and is with a trainer who excels with this type of individual.

Race 5 TATTERSALLS FALMOUTH STAKES (Group 1)

No3 INSPIRAL
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Frankie Dettori

INSPIRAL is the biggest name on view on Day 2 of this historic meeting and defeat for the unbeaten daughter of Frankel would come as a major shock. She recovered from an unpromising position at halfway to power clear on her belated return to action in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and should make it an unblemished six from six to recement her connections’ formidable bond.

ASCOT

Race 3 No5 BLING ON THE MUSIC
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Adam Kirby

BLING ON THE MUSIC’s trump card in this 3yo only contest is that he’s the least experienced in the field and the one with most scope for progression as he makes his handicap debut. The son of Sea The Stars made previous scorer Space Trucker fight for the spoils at Windsor, and met a formidable foe on his only other start in 2022 when chasing home Windseeker at Salisbury.

Race 5 No3 FIRST RULER (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Adam Kirby

FIRST RULER let his halo slip when inched out by Sense Of Wisdom at Newmarket but is a fascinating prospect as his attention is turned to handicaps. The Dubawi colt should benefit from the strong handling of his jockey to regain the winning thread.

YORK

Race 4 No1 ASAASI (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Cameron Noble

Sea The Stars colt ASAASI endorsed the promise he showed in two outings as a juvenile by scoring on a first outing on grass at Salisbury. He landed the odds with something to spare, and though sure to be short for this first handicap assignment looks the best bet on a very tricky card.

CHESTER

Race 4 No2 BETWEENTHESTICKS
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

BETWEENTHESTICKS have it his all on Polytrack debut at Kempton, galloping all the way to the line but being grabbed in the final few strides. The Captain Gerrard colt has been a regular earner and deserves to open his account on this first run in a handicap.

Race 5 No7 POWERALLIED (Each Way)
Trainer: P Morris – Jockey: Paddy Mathers

Course specialist POWERALLIED led them into the straight before weakening here at the end of last month. It was a step up on previous efforts for his new trainer, and suggests he could be ready to post a first success for a month short of three years.

Race 3 No3 SINGLE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

SINGLE put in her best run of the year when going down by a short head to Duke Of Verona at Sandown and now enjoys a great opportunity to put her head in front for the first time in more than a year in what would be a deserved success.

Place Accumulater Perm (Races 1-7)

2, 1, 5 x 2, 6 x 6, 4 x 2, 1 x 7, 3 x 2, 1, 5 x 3
