CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 5 No9 HILARY’S BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Les Eyre – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds

From a good draw one off the fence HILARY’S BOY should come away with a cheque in this second division of the 1400 metres handicap. The three-year-old tries his luck here for the first time after scoring over six furlongs at Leicester and getting beaten an inch over today’s trip at the same venue. If turning up in similar mood he will be hard to beat.

Race 7 No2 DREAM DEAL (Nap)
Trainer: D Brooke – Jockey: J Garritty

DREAM DEAL went up 3lb for getting beat on his handicap debut at Ripon but still appeals as the one that could take a step forward in this field. It was only be a neck that he was worn down by the tough-as-teak Bonita B, and as that was just a fourth ever run for the gelding there should be more to come.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No6 LARK LANE (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: John Egan

LARK LANE failed to menace but wasn’t beaten far into sixth by Kumasi at Windsor last week. He was ridden by a new jockey, who retains the mount and should no more about the Sixties Icon gelding, who can run in snatches.

Race 6 No5 SAAHEQ (Each Way)
Trainer: Amanda Perrett – Jockey: Tyler Heard

SAAHEQ breaks from an outside post and will need things to open up for him in the home straight of this sprint. He’s closely matched with The Defiant on their running over course and distance last month, and though beaten since that narrow success, he’s to be feared if they go hard early.

BANGOR-ON-DEE

Race 2 No3 BAREST OF MARGINS (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Conor O’Farrell

BAREST OF MARGINS is a winner without a penalty in this two mile handicap chase, as he would have scored at Uttoxeter but for crumpling on landing two out. O’Farrell rode him in a nice bit of work last week, and this splendid jumper is strongly fancied to make amends.

Race 7 No5 SIMPLY RED
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

SIMPLY RED has done nothing wrong since his wide margin triumph here in May, finishing second in handicaps at Uttoxeter, Southwell and Cartmel. The fact that he steps up in trip with champion jockey Hughes in the plate is a big boost to his chances of winning.

WINDSOR

Race 3 No8 THUNDER BALL (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Neil Callan

Callan is an interesting booking for twice raced THUNDER BALL, who has troubled the judge in successive visits here and should now be primed to open his account. His connections have some strong cards to play this week, including Royal Scotsman at York, and he can provide a pointer towards that horse in the Gimcrack.

Race 6 No4 ELENA’S GIFT
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rn Hornby

Hat-trick seeker ELENA’S GIFT has taken the spoils with ease, and is the type of mid season improver that can stave off a 6lb rise for a narrow victory here at the start of the month. The daughter of Frankel can triumph over fellow three-year-old Charles St.
