NEWCASTLE

Race 3 Pertemps Network Chipcahse Stakes (Group 3)

No12 SENSE OF DUTY (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SENSE OF DUTY is easily the least experienced sprinter in one of the day’s features, but possesses abundant scope for improvement to take her past older and established rivals. The Showcasing filly just needs to prove she’s as effective on Tapeta as she’s shown in three straight successes on turf to be the one they all have to beat.

Race 5 JenningsBet Northumberland Plate Handicap

No17 VALLEY FORGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

If he can cope with a tricky draw that dictates he breaks from the outer, VALLY FORGE can endorse the promise of a recent Haydock success where he needed to buckle down to take the spoils. He’s looked better each time he’s been stepped up in trip, and will enjoy every yard of the most historic race run at this venue.

TRUESHAN brings a class event to the table but the top weight needs rain to assist his cause, while RAJINSKY has been popular in the ante post market but also needs to get lucky from his gate next to Valley Forge. ALRIGHT SUNSHINE is one that could light up the board and prove the best of the roughies.

Prediction: 1st VALLEY FORGE, 2nd Alright Sunshine, 3rd Rajinsky, 4th Trueshan

CHESTER

Race 2 No9 GREATNESS AWAITS (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa

GREATNESS AWAITS put in a career best when trying to make all and just being run out of it by the progressive Al Azhar at Newbury. The pair pulled well clear of the remainder, and a 3lb hike in the weights shouldn’t prevent him going one better for a trainer who is amongst the winners.

Race 6 No11 POWERALLIED (Each Way)
Trainer: Patrick Morris – Jockey: Barry McHugh

POWERALLIED may be getting longer in the tooth, but the six-times course winner should never be underestimated on the Roodee. He’s had a couple of readying outings to put the edge on him, and from a good draw close to the rail can be competitive at a big double figure price.

Race 7 No5 BAILEYS DERBYDAY
Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Franny Norton

Johnston rarely leaves this track empty handed, and his ace card today is BAILEYS DERBYDAY. The four-year-old ran well on his only previous visit to Chester and showed that he stays two miles with a near miss at Musselburgh last time. He has the right jockey on board to bring him safe home.

NEWMARKET

Race 3 No7 MINNETONKA
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Jim Crowley

MINNETONKA created a favourable impression when powering away from her rivals on introduction at Salisbury. The beautifully-bred daughter of Kingman has delighted connections in her subsequent work, and can give her trainer back-to-back wins in this Listed contest.

Race 4 No3 STOWELL (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Rab Havlin

STOWELL may not have stayed when sixth in a handicap at Royal Ascot, but the big move he made to come around rivals and hit the front early in the straight might have taken its toll as he weakened from first to sixth. The Zoffany colt can show he’s still a good prospect by making this a first triumph of the year on a drop back to a mile and a half.

Race 5 House Of Cavani Menswear Criterion Stakes (Group 3)

No2 ART DU VAL (Each Way)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

The featured Criterion Stakes can go to the powerful ART DU VAL, whose wanderings have seen him race almost exclusively in Dubai. There he was a dual scorer before graduating into Group company at which level he picked up four minor cheques. For much of the way he looked like delivering on his UK debut at York, and can now step up on that second to Valiant Prince to trump the likes of Laneqash and Sunray Major.

WINDSOR

Race 2 No1 BLUELIGHT BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Eve Johnson Houghton – Jockey: Charles Bishop

This stable introduced a well backed winning juvenile earlier in the week, whose success points to a good run from BLUELIGHT BAY. The Exceed And Excel colt finished second in a Goodwood race that’s been well advertised on more than one occasion, and should know too much for his opponents.

Race 3 No2 MIAMI GIRL
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Pat Dobbs

MIAMI GIRL proved that her York flop was all wrong by staying on well to finish an honourable fifth in the Queen Mary last week. She’s taken those exertions in her stride, and can prove too lively for her foes in a race that’s cut up in her favour.

Race 5 No5 TRAIS FLUORS
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop

TRAIS FLUORS often comes back with a hard luck story, but nothing of the like can be attributed to his latest effort when third at Redcar last week. Remaining in a smaller field than he’s used to competing in, the former French-based gelding can deliver for his in form stable.

DONCASTER

Race 1 No5 SULOCHANA
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Josephine Gordon

SULOCHANA has proved expensive to follow this year, twice being downed as a well supported favourite before disappointing at Musselburgh. She has a new pilot doing the steering in a race that she’s more than capable of winning if on a going day, and is worth risking.

Race 6 No4 WILLEM TWEE (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

The best bet on this card is WILLEM TWEE, who looked all over the winner on second start at Newcastle only to be chinned on the line. His inexperience cost him outright victory, and now switched to turf he can show himself to be just as good.

Place Accumulater Perm (Races 1-7)

5, 4 x 6, 4 x 3, 1 x 2 x 3, 1 x 4 x 6, 4
