DONCASTER

Race 3 JAPAN RACING ASSOCIATION SCEPTRE FILLIES’ STAKES (Group 3)

No4 ELIM (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

If carded close to her double-figure price I shall have a reasonable crack at ELIM who shapes like a filly that can win at this level. She’s contested some good races through the summer, running well in a Class2 at Royal Ascot, picking up black type at Pontefract and latterly looking most unlucky not to prevail in another Class2 at York where she was given too much to do. This is a strong field, but off a light campaign, she should have more to offer.

Race 5 No1 ORAZIO (Each Way)
Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

ORAZIO is proving something of an enigma and was all at sea when asked to cover 1400 metres at Ascot in July. The grey’s previous run at that track resulted in a narrow defeat in the Wokingham, and while some of his form is in and out he’s perfectly capable of bouncing back against old sparring partners such as KINGS LYNN, whilst KNEBWORTH is in the kind of form to also get a slice of the cake.

Race 6 No7 LENNOX (Each Way)
Trainer: Harry Eustace – Jockey: Hayley Turner

LENNOX is one that could have been let in lightly. He’s not been seen since May when putting in a second consecutive near miss at Windsor. As an unexposed horse having just a fifth career start, there could be plenty more to come now that he’s switched to handicaps. Others to consider for exactas, trifectas and quartets are ARKENDALE, YOUNG FIRE and TIGER BEETLE.

BATH

Race 2 No10 KEEP SINGING (Nap)
Trainer: Stan Moore – Jockey: Jack Doughty

KEEP SINGING looked home and hosed only to be joined on the line at Wolverhampton last week, and then lost the race when the Stewards decided she had slightly hampered her rival. Even though lumbered with a 6lb penalty the Kameko filly is racing off a 2lb lower mark from a good draw, and has a bright chance of grabbing some compensation for owners Spirited Racing.

Race 4 No6 BOY GEORGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Dominic Ffrench Davis – Jockey: Liam Keniry

BOY GEORGE took a dramatic walk in the market but nevertheless acquitted himself well when runner-up to Bletchley Storm at Newbury last week. Returning to the scene of his comeback success in July, he can make a good fist of getting back to winning ways at the expense of in-form dual-purpose horse AL SAYAH.

Race 5 No3 SARAH’S VERSE (Each Way)
Trainer: Ron Harris – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson

SARAH’S VERSE finds herself in a good part of the gate to make a mark in a wickedly competitive sprint for which there are many with chances. She needs the cards to fall in her favour, but should earn if they do. Others to consider are TREACHEROUS, GLAMOROUS EXPRESS and CONNIE’S ROSE. An exacta perm with all four horses should profit.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 2 No3 SOUL SINGER (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

SOUL SINGER faces an unexposed rival in WESSEX for whom market support would be more than interesting, but the first-named horse has a break on his foes on the ratings, and though yet tin win a race will never get as good an opportunity as this.

Race 7 No1 INANNA
Trainer: Jim Goldie – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan

INANNA gained a deserved first success for her trainer when beating Stash The Cash at Carlisle and should prove hard to stop as she makes a quick-fire reappearance under a 5lb penalty.
