PONTEFRACT
Race 3 No1 BARTZELLA
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
The Listed feature can see penalized BARTZELLA putting her best foot forward from a stable that has a fine record here. The Golden Horn filly is not strictly weighted to confirm earlier in the season Goodwood placings with Lady Hayes, but her profile of three successes from only four starts points to her being more of a Pattern race prospect than her opponents.
Race 4 No15 YASMIN FROM YORK
Trainer: Simon Whitaker – Jockey: Joanna Mason
Oleg is a fascinating runner for champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls, but at the other end of the weights and from a favourable draw YASMIN FROM YORK can take home a decent cheque. Recent evidence indicates she’s in a good place to build, with her figures of 21412 this season set to be further consolidated.
Race 5 No1 FISHABLE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
FISHABLE showed he was running into form when staving off all but Brilliant Light at Ripon. It was easily his best effort in three attempts in 2022, and despite having to give away lumps of weight he can prevail for the bang in form Easterby stable.
WORCESTER
Race 4 No8 CADEAU D’OR
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Tom Scudamore
Easily the least experienced runner in the field and therefore the one with most scope for progression is CADEAU D’OR. The gelded son of Le Havre troubled the judge on both outings in a novice and maiden hurdle, and could have got into this first handicap assignment off a lenient mark.
Race 5 No3 GLYNN
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville
GLYNN has not been without training issues which have restricted him to just one start in the past year. In favour of the former Irish point winner is that this is effectively just a third outing under the tutelage of Henderson, as he was suffering from a wind affliction when twice failing to complete in 2021.
Race 6 No1 POP THE CHAMPAGNE
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan
There was a great deal to like about the Ffos Las success of POP THE CHAMPAGNE on her return from a seven month absence. Strong in the market, she readily accounted for her foes like a mare that probably has a lot more to offer.
HEXHAM
Race 4 No5 THE VOLLAN
Trainer: Laura Morgan – Jockey: Adam Wedge
THE VOLLAN went up just 2lb for a convincing Southwell win when returned to fences for his latest start. That was a reward for several consistent efforts, and for a trainer who is amongst the winners with her summer j7mpers he can build on it.
