YARMOUTH
Race 2 No1 MIDNIGHT THUNDER (Nap)
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Godolphin can dominate an interesting novice, with MIDNIGHT THUNDER preferred to Al Misbar. The selection was a most impressive scorer on second start at Windsor and can defy a penalty at the main expense of a rival in the same ownership, and one who is a half-brother to champion sprinter Battaash.
Race 4 No4 SILVER GUNN
Trainer: Marco Botti – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Botti is right amongst the winners and his SILVER GUNN can add to the Italian’s laurels under the champion jockey elect. He gamely landed the spoils in a Class5 at Newmarket to continue a sequence of winning or placing in each of his races this year. The grey is back up a notch on the class ladder but perfectly capable of following up.
Race 5 No1 SUMMER OF LOVE
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
SUMMER OF LOVE can round off a good day for Godolphin by taking out this fillies’ handicap. The daughter of Dark Angel top and tailed a select season with triumphs at Kempton and Epsom, with Murphy in the irons for that latest success when the combination landed some good bets. However, the hood that she’s sported on her last two outings is now removed.
REDCAR
Race 6 No5 BETWEENTHESTICKS
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: James Sullivan
Carr is noted for doing well with her purchases from other stables and her recent addition BETWEENTHESTICKS can score on a first outing from his new base on the North. The four-year-old won at Lingfield and finished in the money at Windsor to produce his best form of the season, and if a change of scenery has further benefitted him he can dominate this bottom grade sprint.
Race 7 No4 SEE THAT STORM (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
The best bet on this card is SEE THAT STORM, who might be the least experienced in the field but brings the best form to the table. The son of Storm The Stars made it two from two out of the Bethell yard when landing some good bets at Pontefract, and reappearing at the same level here can complete a fine hat trick.
Race 8 No5 MARMALADE LADY
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Jason Hart
Long-distance traveller MARMALADE LADY has plenty going for her in this long-distance handicap. The Expert Eye filly has shown a preference for racing on grass, earning in each of three races on that surface. Cheek pieces seemed to benefit her on a recent trip to Ffos Las, while the retention of the headgear and a step up in trip can add to her chances.
NEWCASTLE
Race 7 No3 BAMBURGH (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning
BAMBURGH has troubled the judge on both starts at Salisbury and Beverley and should open his account in a race where low numbers can dominate. The Zoffany colt may find Parthenopaeus his main barrier to success as he switches to an all-weather surface.
Race 9 No6 BALQAA
Trainer: Stella Barclay – Jockey: Jamie Spencer
In the Class6 nightcap BALQAA should prove hard to beat. She landed some good bets at Southwell at the start of the month, while as a dual scorer at Gosforth Park can make this her first success there for two years.
