EXETER
Race 2 No9 PILSDON PEN
Trainer: Jeremy Scott – Jockey: Rex Dingle
PILSDON PEN showed his liking for Haldon when successful here in November. He returned after a short break to again trouble the judge when third at Fontwell but wasn’t as much at home on that tight track. This is a competitive heat, but he has a good chance of making it a fourth handicap hurdle triumph since joining his handler.
Race 3 No10 KINGSMILL GIN (Each Way)
Trainer: J Plessis – Jockey: James Best
KINGSMILL GIN has attracted support on each of her last two starts, and after unseating her pilot at Wincanton finished third to Leading Knight at Taunton. Interestingly she cuts back a long way on the distance ladder here and should this be more her comfort zone she can recoup losses.
Race 6 No15 THE KING OF RYHOPE (Nap)
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
A market check is advised on Johnnywho but THE KING OF RYHOPE shaped with considerable promise on his debut under Rules at Carlisle and if moving forward from that looks the one to beat.
SOUTHWELL
Race 2 No12 WRITTEN BROADCAST (Each Way)
Trainer: Ollie Pears – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan
WRITTEN BROADCAST deserves a change of luck after posting near misses on all three of his 2023 starts. The grey is better drawn than main market rival Atrafan, and meeting that foe on better terms has a good chance of turning the tables from his meeting with him over course and distance last week.
Race 6 No12 THIRD BATCH (Nap)
Trainer: Sean Woods – Jockey: Adam Farragher
This is a good opportunity for THIRD BATCH to put her best foot forward. The daughter of Expert Eye has been easy to back on all three starts but raised her game when chasing home Star Of Mayo at Lingfield. She narrowly missed out that day, but should make no mistake here.
Race 7 No8 EAGLE EYED FREDDIE
Trainer: Mike Appleby – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
EAGLE EYED FREDDIE was a dual scorer on sand in the summer and has been unlucky not to add to that tally by finishing placed in eight of his ten subsequent races. The ‘Mr Consistency’ side of his character should shine through again against hat-trick seeking paper favourite Run Teddy Run.
